Joop's Place

We hadn't visited for some three years or so. There were some design changes and new owners. We were a little apprehensive but we're pleasantly surprised when the same properly cooked steaks were served with an owner recommended wine. We will certainly return again soon.

Very friendly professional friendly staff across the entire establishment not only the staff serving you. Meals were very good size and taste, my wife and I both enjoyed our steaks and my daughter her chicken schni

As long standing Joops visitors it was with great sadness that we bade farewell to Joop & Wendy. Not only for the loss of friendship but the terrible prospect of never being able to savour another pan-fried pepper fillet. We put the new owners to the test a few weeks back and can happily report that they are still producing a fantastic pan-fried steak. Decor has been re-vamped nicely and some additions to the menu are also great. We will be back asap!!!

I took my dad last night for his birthday. I had the Hollandse Biefstuk and my dad had the Garlic Biefstuk. They were both cooked to perfection (crispy on the outside and the right amount of pink in the middle) and were delicious. Still the best steak in Durban and beyond! Go and enjoy.

Although having changed ownership since I last visited, Jeffery the Chef who was trained under Joop, and did not disappoint! The Joop’s Special has to be the best steak in Durban, absolutely brilliant. Thank you.

With Joop at the grill, always a great experience. A hidden gem that is well worth visiting. Had Joop's special. Highly recommended.

Very high quality food and cosy environment. Good service.My dad had his pan steak medium-rare. He says done to perfection, enjoyed every bite.I had the Chicken Cacciatora. A first for me on mash potatoes really good. Just delicious. Ended with a rich and creamy Chocolate Mousse.

A big shout out to the amazing staff and management of this establishment. It was a very last minute booking (we were literally a road away) and they accomodated us with ease. No excuses of the kitchen closing in a few minutes or no rush to order. It is certainly rare to find such good service these days. All of the meals ordered did not dissappoint at all. Salad was good and fresh. Chicken livers tasted really good and the steak was done to perfection. All in all a really good experience and lovely ambience. We will definitely be back here again.

Joop's has always been known as the best steakhouse. Well they are! Everything was great. Service, attention to detail, food was delicious and I never thought I'd finish the meal but I did. Had to because it was do good! Well worth a visit you will not be disappointed.

We ate here twice on a visit to Durban for the Comrades Marathon. The steak was absolutely outstanding. We had the pepper steak which is one of their specialities. One of the nicest steaks I have ever had and cooked to perfection. The service was very friendly and the wine excellent. For someone from the UK the price was also very good indeed. Do give it a go, it was the nicest food I had in Durban.
