Izakaya Matsuri

For a first time visit to this part of town it was a bit hard finding the place, but wow, when we found it, we were flabbergasted. We both foodcasmed about 6 times and wow. Just go there. You won't be disappointed.

First time we visited your establishment and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted by your professional and friendly waiter Abdullah, which made it special. The food was amazing and authentic Japanese. The variety speaks for itself.

We love sushi and were delighted to find this gem as lockdown allowed restaurants again. It isn't so easy to find the first time and it is not getting 5* for decor or ambiance. But it is absolutely delicious sushi, fresh, great combinations and creative...but within the Japanese tradition. We will be back soon!More

Izakaya Matsuri is without a doubt my find of 2018/2019 - I’ve probably dined here on about 12 occasions in 2019, each time taking another sushi obsessed friend with. Love watching their expression change when they get their first taste of the tuna Tataki, always...a winner! Incredible how this place isn’t always packed :)More

The atmosphere is convivial, not too noisy. Servings are more than generous. The starter was the size of the main meal. All of it was excellent

This is one of my favourite restaurants. The food is always super frensh and flavourful. Conveniently situated in the De Waterkant neighbourhood. Reasonably priced

Great atmosphere, decor and service in this Japanese tapas restaurant. We started with hot sake that hit the right spot in our throats to enjoy a great selection from the starter menu from dumplings to really tasty vegetable tempura. Some of the dishes being brought...out to other tables caught our eye and our server recommended the sushi. We however stuck to the starters and really enjoyed our evening. This restaurant is a little hidden away but well worth a trip to the Cape Quarter area for delicious reasonably priced Japanese food.More

Travelling with my japanese in laws, they started to be tired of Western food and so we decided to get Japanese food. It did it's magic. They loved the food, we had an excellent service and everyone was happy.
