Honeybun Deli - Observatory

We went there on a Sunday and chose the outside seating. Although in the end it proved to be relatively "safe", quite a lot of people passed close by and could have easily caused harm. No security around, but very disturbing for an "quiet" outside meal... The breakfast and coffee was tasteful and well prepared (and decorated), staff friendly. Priced very affordable. Next time I'll sit inside or chose avenue where passers-by are better controlled.

Really good breakfast and efficient service. The restaurant is quite small as is the outside seating area so there might be a wait for a table. There are a few vintage stores nearby as well as a store selling vinyl records in mint condition.

Young, vibey sidewalk cafe with a good selection of lunch options, however the burger was a little bready and over seasoned while the chicken in the salad was scarce. Really inexpensive so one cant really complain. It is what it is.

This place is not great nor bad, if you don't expect much from here you'll leave happy if you expecting a more smarter establishment for breakfast maybe head to town. They have a great list of breakfasts they even have a breakfast called a "recession" for R22 which is extremely good value for money, coffees are good quality I just find them on the tad expensive side.

Good service, excellent coffee (strong) prepared just as I like it (not something they have on their menu), good prices (for the area). My only negative remark has to do with the lack of space. We were constantly being banged around by bags, totes, people as they were coming in/out of the restaurant as tables are placed too close together and too close to the entrance door. It made for a few spills and uncomfortable eating.

There is good food at Rust around the corner. Arrived at Honeybun at 825 for breakfast - was ignored as they only open at 830. Manageress looked at us as if we were aliens when I mentioned the advertised opening times - no 'wait and have a coffee while we sort our selves out' - so my guests and i moved around the corner and spent our R460 somewhere else.

The sugar free brownies in here are one of the best things I've eaten. Coffees very good.Our server Olivia is a force of nature - and I hope I'm not bigging her up too much when I say the place is worth a visit for her charm and quick wit on its own.An ideal place to spent half an hour prior to taking a walking tour from around the corner.

After a walk on Saturday morning. We decided to have breakfast at Cafe Honeybun in Lower Main Road, Observatory. Service was good and the food was well prepared. We had the Full House breakfast, We left there fully satisfied with our start to the day. The place fills up after 8.30 so get there early as they open at 7am.

While we were in Observatory completing the renovations to our house we practically lived at Honeybun and enjoyed pretty much everything off their menu. Everything is freshly prepared, tasty and well-priced, and they have superb freshly squeezed juices. They also serve chilled water flavoured with lemon and cucumber which was tremendously refreshing during the hot summer days. They’re very dog friendly if you sit outside and their manageress is the most hospitable and welcoming person. She even made an off-menu banana, strawberry & caramel pancake after finding out that it’s one of Lisa’s favourite things.

Great spot for breakfast. Their beetroot & carrot smoothie was fantastic! Omelette was a bit dry... but still great breakfast options to choose from. Loved the view of the Mountain when sitting on their balcony outside. Their background music was a great combination of smooth jazz fusion and soul... quirky, easy-going atmosphere in a bohemian suburb...
