Fish Finder

I enjoyed their fresh hake and slapchips, took a takeaway because I was too busy to sit down. No airs and graces at Fish Finder, apart from the extensive wine and beer menu, everything is rustic, there are a few tables (if you are lucky enough) but the seafood is top notch, very fresh, unlike many other establishments. Calamari is very tender, quite possibly the best in town.I know that fresh fish in a harbour town is a little trite, but too many places in Port Elizabeth are selling frozen rubbish (Gauteng fish), it's time to call them out and celebrate the places that actually care for their clients to the extent that they insist on serving fresh seafood. COVID-19 is no excuse! I will continue to support Fish Finder and the others that serve FRESH fish. I even took a takeaway as padkos for the trip back to Gauteng, this fish was so fresh that I could not get enough, I enjoyed it cold at a roadstop in Coleburg, and the fishcakes were still good in Bloemfontein. Cannot wait until I get beck to PE for fresh fish from Fish Finder!

The seafood is outstanding. Freshly prepared with an average waiting time.The staff are friendly and very helpful. The establishment caters for takeaways as well.

Hi we had fish during the week it was good but not great we have tasted better service was good . Reasonable priced

We have been to this place and sat down to dine, excellent pensioners offers at lunchtime. We have also have the take away 5 or 6 times now and the service is well organised. It is so popular you have to wait for a little time but you can have a drink at the bar while you wait for your number to be called. One thing the potions are major, so we can easily share a portion of chips between the two of us.

I phoned in a large takeaway order shortly after lunchtime on a Sunday, for hake, calamari, prawns and chips, for a family get together of 12-14 people. I asked for it to be ready for collection at 17:30, for an 18:00 dinner. As it was a large order I wanted to give them plenty of notice. On arriving to collect, my husband was told that they had forgotten to put the order through, and he had to wait a considerable length of time for the order. The restaurant was not busy at the time. The batter on the fried fish was leathery and overcooked, which leads me to believe it was not freshly prepared, possibly even defrosted and reheated, and we received 6 prawns in total with the order! As an apology for the delay we were given a small extra container of coleslaw - hardly a compensation. Not only disappointing but embarrassing! We will most certainly not go back.

Easy eating - not too busy. Good service We had the dinner for one and the calamari was excellent. The grilled fish was very good.

They have a very clean and neat restaurant. The food was very good. Very large portions tho... I will definitely come again!Ps. I was NOT asked to write this review.

On our return visit to Fish Finder, we were more than happy with our food and service. Nice to see that the venue has had a revamp. The fish is stunning, tasty, well cooked and consistent. We both had the grilled Hake and fried Calamari platter. Impressed that my request for crispy chips was carried through to soft on the inside and crispy on the outside chips. The portions where healthy, enough for a lunch takeaway. The calamari was very tender, melt in your mouth. You can take your own wine, although they have a good wine and drinks list. The meals menu is comprehensive with lots of seafood options for this stunning fish and chips restaurant. There is chicken option for a burger or wrap, however no red meat. Looking forward to a return visit.

Bought a fish and chips + calamari take away and wow, kids and family loved it! Was well priced and super delicious!!!

Again what a pleasure to go and have your fish fix in the friendly city of Port Elizabeth. They have improved on their service and the decor. We can recommend the calamari starter which is more like a main and of course their hake with chips at the amazing price of only R 40.00. What a bargain and the quality comes free of charge. You can even take your own wine, but theirs is very reasonably priced. Quaint but cosy.
