Fig Tree Restaurant

We had dinner on Friday evening, the atmosphere is always great on Fridays with live music . We had the fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection. Service from Michelle was very good. The menu is good and varied. Great salads .

A really nice venue but the food is consistently below average. Such a pity! A huge opportunity being missed by not hiring the correct staff. Can just imagine what a really good chef can make with this place!! Thanks

I have reviewed Fig Tree a few times and have not been overawed with the standard of service nor the quality of food. At best it has been average. I believe that the new team, new management with Roger at the helm of SCC, Chef Gary and Godfrey in the revamped kitchen and Mel “in control” this Fig Tree is going to start growing again as the budding leaves are sprouting! The service is getting better and better as the servers grow their confidence. In that respect it makes a meal more enjoyable. The quality of the food, preparation and presentation has improved each time I have been there. “Eating with your eyes” is the start of a meal. The food being served is really very good. Pork belly excellent and my oxtail was “terribly” delicious!! It’s going to be hard for me to try another option with that great oxtail! The salads are fresh and well prepared with the right amount of ingredients and not overflowing with lettuce. All in all the improvements in quality, attitude and service is very exciting and I am thrilled to watch this journey progress.

Wow the Sunday buffet was excellent. Roast beef, chicken, curries, veggies and yorkshire puddings. Loved it and this was the first time we have been back since the renovations were completed. The view is good and the only drawback was the price which at R180/pp was a bit expensive. However the food was good so will go back.

Tonight was probably the best meal we have had at the Fig Tree in a very long time!The service was good with Fortunate understanding our indecision and giving us space to make up our minds and finally taking the order quickly and without fault. The chicken livers were the best ever! Even better than Gerard’s! Great. The oxtail was also super delicious. Just enough of each ingredient to keep the interest up and flavours amazing. My friends were also extremely happy with their orders. Well done Godfrey. Food really good.

Wow, from the minute you sit outside and take in the view to when the food is delivered it was great. So to be more specific as it was a Sunday you either choose the buffet or a burger and chips, we reluctantly at that stage chose a burger. What a great surprise to see this mountain of a burger, which we deconstructed, and ate to our full enjoyment.... now that’s why you go out to eat!!

Although the Fig Tree is being renovated at this time, it is understandable that all things might not be equal but the lack of quality service leaves a lot to be desired.

I'e always been very satisfied whenever I have eaten here, but the Wednesday night curry buffets are truly outstanding. YUM!

My wife and I hadn’t been at the Fig Tree for a year or so as we don’t live in Ballito We popped in for lunch and the service and the staff were excellent as usualI had the lamb curry and my wife the chicken and prawn curryBoth were well cooked well presented and served piping hot Excellent food and excellent service Well done the staff at the Fig Tree

The butternut gnocchi was grainy & hardly any Gorgonzola sauce. My filling in the pie was full of grizzle and undercooked beef. Not very good for an award winning chef to showcase his food. We opted to have my wife's birthday lunch here & it was extremely disappointing. We've had amazing gnocchi here on many occasions, but there was no love of food served up today. We therefore never bothered with coffee and desert & it's left a bitter taste in our mouths.
