Die Plaaskombuis @ Hemel En Aarde

Our family went for Sunday lunch at Die Plaaskombuis. We did not book, so we were happy to wait outside for a table. Management was very rude when they finally informed my brother that there was a table. It was as if they are doing us a favour by letting us dine there. Service was then extremely slow. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, but I could see that there is defintely a staff shortage, the waitress had too many tables to serve. We eventually cancelled our order and left after waiting very long just for the drinks. I was at The Plaaskombuis twice before, and service was very slow as well and management was also unfriendly. The Plaaskombuis is a lovely venue and well-decorated. It is a pity that I had to experience such unfriendly attitudes from managment more than once.

Seemed such a nice place, but was dissapointed, quite pricey and when I asked for wi fi password, the lady that attended to us, said the staff do not even have access to it, so no!! customers cannot have access either!! Food tasted good, but I had the wrap, and presentation was bland!!! White and not toasted, so looked kinda ill!!This place draws you with its outward appearance, but I for one, will not go back, as I find it way too pricey!!

Terrible, absolutely terrible!! Great ambience .. loads of potential, but the food is made by someone who has no idea or tastebuds, to start off its really over priced which will okay if the food was at all on standard. But its bad. Really bad. A corner cafe would be a better option, its seriously the worst food ever! even the tea tasted terrible. So disappointed and frustrated that a nice meal out leaves you feeling a bit sick. Had the club sandwich.. no care or love.. overcooked blue egg.. oily bacon, and the most bland chicken mayo ever, suppose to have avo and peppadew but thats not on there .. a week old chicken with the cheapest nasties mayo you can find and bread falling apart. The tomato is the edges and skin only.. the cheese, again the cheapest tasteless cheese they can find. Want to charge top prices R105 for a sandwich then at least give me something decent ...

Such great food at reasonable prices. Very friendly service. The nobodies is great as is the bunny chow. We will certainly be back for the good food and lovely view.

Every thing was nice and good.....until I look at the menu to my horror the burger doesnt come with gherkins,if you want these groovy fermented cucumbers in thier rightful place you will need to add ten bucks(10 ZARs)extra to get them there.This to me is blasphemous in the burger fraternity.They are as important as the bun or the patty.Please I implore the power that be at the plaas kombuis. Give me some free gherkins.it really cannot harm your food cost.

This is a little roadside shop/deli/restaurant. There are some very interesting country "things" for sale and it may be worth a stop for this. There is a little restaurant attached to this, and if you are hungry, the food is OK, but it is certainly not fantastic. The pies have very thick crusts, which were crispy on the outside, but quite soggy on the inside because they were so thick. The fillings were OK, but there was not much of it. The plougmans/cheese platter was positively poor!

Poor service ruined what could have been a good meal. Trying to find a waitron to take an order should have rang warning bells. Manageress intervened and told us we had an allocated waitress. Waitress dodged us very well. Even drinks took ages. Question why did we stay?

Lovely location - great play area for kids. Ordered a chicken mayo salad and 2 portions of pancakes. Waited an hour. Portions were very small for the price. “Chicken mayo” was just chicken strips with no mayo. Had to request cutlery. Asked for the WiFi password, but was told the WiFi was only for the office use. Was a bit overpriced in my opinion - R105 for a small salad. 20 minute wait for the bill.. even though there were only 3 tables at that stage.

I mentioned previous reviews regarding waiting time for food as we placed our order. We got the most delicious meal within a few minutes. Rosie served our table and for a countryside waitress she was superb. Countryside food is fresh produce and being freshly prepared it will usually take longer than "Restaurant" food.

This place needs a wake up! Staff - including the manageress ignored customers to the point that 3 people got up and left after waiting 10 minutes for a menu. Our wine order was wrong, we had to go to the bar to ask for water, food arrived cold and they forgot our second glass of wine. And it wasnt as if they were full! We won't be back!
