Codfather Seafood and Sushi

Your food last night was world class as usual! You are consistent and high quality.We really appreciate you sending the lovely waitress Elia to come and drop off our food last night. Just before curfew and super convenient. We cannot thank you enough for coming to us with dinner! Your service and food is above and beyond! You are an absolute gem in our Camps Bay hood!Super big, special thanks to Elia for assisting us when the card machine was giving trouble. She was so accommodating, friendly and her service was 11/10! Top star waitress you got here!!! As always, we will be back for more.

Had a fabulous dinner here as a friend recommended as one of their favorites for great seafood. Did not disappoint. Love the “seafood counter” type selection. Our waitress guided us through and gave recommendations, including portions. Very helpful and much appreciated. Everything is grilled and comes with chips and fabulously cook veggies! Great evening with fabulous food. A must visit.

Went to Codfather, Camps Bay today. Best Seafood restaurant in Cape Town especially for children. They get to choose what they want to eat whilst still raw and on display. Which is quite empowering for kids. And the food is well prepared and clean and grilled to perfection. This is the best fine dining in a “Spur” type of environment (accessible / semi-fine dining) you will ever get. The wine list is very modest and so, for those with premium pallets, you may want to bring your own wine. This joint is highly recommended for families with little ones.

We loved our dining experience at Codfather. The lull in tourism meant we walked right in. It was a chilly night and the cozy fire was welcome!. We were explained how it works and escorted to the viewing counter. We selected prawns, butterfish (which is excellent BTW), sea bass and scallops. It was all quickly grilled to perfection and served with rice and veggies family style. It was delicious and fresh! Loved it! Sooo delicious. Highly recommend

We had dinner for 4 people in April 2021. Fish and calamari was fresh and so tasty. service was good as well. Hope to go back one day

We had a dinner at the Codfather and it was absolutely superb. After walking up a nondescript flight of stairs you are greeted with a cozy restaurant with a fresh fish counter to the left and a bar and sushi train to the right. We were seated on the right by a window, close to the sushi station. Service was friendly and quick and the waitress explained that we had to go to the fresh fish counter to choose our fish and portion size, which we did. The fish on display was fresh with a good variety, and we settled for medium rare seared tuna steaks all round. We started off with some appetizers and some sushi, all of which was excellent. The tuna was absolutely divine, perfectly seared, as were all the side dishes. Overall one of the best seafood meals I’ve ever had in Cape Town and surely one of the beat seafood restaurants in the region. Highly recommended!

The Codfather has been one of my favourite restaurants in Cape Town for almost 20 years. Their fish is unbelievably fresh and their sushis the best I have ever tasted. I like their simplicity and unpretentiousness. Definitely worth trying.

We have come to the Codfather for years. When we spend our usual 3 months in Cape Town per year, we come here once a week. This should say it all. No other place serves this large variety of fresh from the ocean seafood and has maintained the standard for so many years. Situated in the heart of Camps Bay, the Codfather is the number one sea food location in town. You can pick any fresh fish, crayfish, oysters, mussels or calamari from the glass cabinet and they will cook it for you any way you like.Also, if you think you know everything about great sushi, you have not been to the Codfather yet. The most amazing varieties of deliciously fresh sushi, the greatest creations EVER that are larger than any sushi you have even seen before await you at the sushi bar via a rotating belt. You can watch the chefs prepare the sushi and if you don't see the one you prefer, you can order it on the spot. We have never been disappointed and strongly recommend this place. Staff is super friendly. The only issue I may want to raise is that not everyone wears their masks properly over mouth AND nose during the Covid 19 pandemic, which to us Europeans is very important due to the rapid spread of the virus in indoor spaces. Most people do, but sometimes you can find waiters who don't wear them properly. Otherwise all measures are in place and all windows are always open, so you feel quite safe.

A must for every Cape Town visit! Always a happening to be there, we like the restaurants and it’s Staff and food...only disadvantage is that you smell a bit from the open kitchen - maybe the owners should think of a better deduction in the kitchen!

Had sushi and fish n chips and it was soo good, highly recommended this restaurant for lunch or dinner.
