We had a lovely evening out. Considering that we had to make a reservation for 5pm because of lockdown, we embraced the early dinner. The setting is lovely with a cool atmosphere. The Afrikaans menu was actually quite a novel idea but I think its quite daunting for non Afrikaans speaking patrons. I loved the tongue in cheek references to various dishes (dopdiere -snails ) and the concept of chicken as a salad. Our steaks were delicious but I thought that the sides were disappointing and VERY expensive. To pay R40 for a toasted tomato,onion and cheese on government white bread is quite excessive. The sweet potato fries were delicious but they should inform the patrons that its more like a crisp than a French fry.Pumpkin fritters were sickly sweet and the salad was drenched in a dressing which made it very mushy and soggy All round we had a nice evening, but couldn't consider desserts because the kitchen closed at 7pm and there were no alcoholic drinks available. I would love to experience it again in "normal" times as I am better prepared about what to expect.

Excellent service, food was delicious. The vibe great. We will definitely visit again and suggest to our friends and family.

We visited here because the family we were visiting highly recommended it. We were not disappointed.There is a warm, friendly atmosphere in the restaurant.It is also the first restaurant I've ever been to where there was a sign at the entrance saying people are welcome to bring firearms in. And also the first place I'd seen a menu that was entirely in Afrikaans.All in all, a great experience. I will sorely miss that quality of steak at that price point back in Europe.

Spacious restaurant, very nice to sit outside, does not feel like you are in the middle of town. Our fillet and steak were very good. Interesting menu, friendly service.

We were at Buffelsfontein for the cocktail special.Their gin cocktails were very delicious, and there was a variety of the gin cocktails to choose from.The service was also great.

Very interesting menu with lots of traditional (and not so traditional for those that don't want this) Afrikaans meals.We were 7 in our group and everyone was happy with their food, those who ordered steaks got them exactly as order and they were as tender as could be.The restaurant was busy and still the service was good.The setup was comfortable and informal, well worth visiting frequently.

We had no illusions that meat was what they specialise in. We had steaks and ribs with a variety of side dishes. Meat done to perfection and even the veggies, specifically the beans, were prepared just right. Milkshakes (one of them a malva pudding flavour) topped it off. Great setting and we found the menu most entertaining.

Evening went very well especially since we happened on the restaurant accidentally. My husband and myself were very impressed with the original idea of the afrikaans menu and sense of humor used to describe the dishes. It all turnt slightly when i found a sweets wrapper(what you get with your bill) in My food while i was busy eating. When i called the waiter he appeared unsure why i had a problem with the plastic in my food and offered to remove the plastic from my food with his bare hands at the table. After declining and digging it out for him he took it away and that was that. When we asked for the bill, i enquired if he informed the kitchen of the plastic in my food and he asked me where the wrapper came from, which i found odd since i would also liked to have known why i had a used, empty sweet wrapper in my food... which was frankly a bit gross.The manager tried to rectify the situation after everything was settled, which was a bit late.

Enjoyed the honest cooking and quirky menu. Friendly atmosphere and to understand the unique Afrikaans humor on the menu visit with Afrikaans friends or use google translate. Good quality steak prepared to perfection.

We have visited twice already, and both times we were very impressed with the quality of the food. The meat is out of this world. Tongue in the cheek menu, but really enjoyable. Highly recommended for an evening with friend or family.
