Bowl'd Restaurant

I am so disappointed in my experience at Bowl'd. It was my boyfriends birthday lunch and was meant to be a special day for him. Everything about our experience here was utterly shocking. From service to food to "value" for money. When we first arrived, the waiter took ages to arrive to take down drinks orders, same thing when we wanted to place orders for food. We then asked for a jug of water for the table, which was brought, with glasses to drink the water out of. I eventually had to get up as nobody came to assist, and asked another waitress to please bring glasses, she said sure - yet again the glasses did not arrive. When our food came - more issues. Namely: - my ravioli was ICE cold and drowning in so much sauce it was unpleasant. -my friend found a long piece of hair inside one of her ravioli pieces. - another friend found a BUTTON in his butternut, and his steak was asked to be medium, it was rare if not blue. We told the manager about both these incidences, yet not as much as an apology was made to the table. - we wanted ice cream from the ice cream bar but lone and behold, the freezer was not working and the ice cream was mush and crystallised when the waiter tried to scoop a serving, yet again no apology to be found. Just to top off our "lovely" experience, my friend asked for a cappuccino, to have with the birthday cake I had brought, since we could not have ice cream, and that only arrived after we had received the bill.OH - and none of the kitchen staff as much as pretended to wear a mask. They are dealing with the food we are eating and no precautions are taking. They should not be operating with this hygiene standard, I am so disappointed. I would love to know how and why this restaurant is still in operation? For the prices you pay, you would expect it to be on the standard of Aurum, Saint and Marble. Utterly horrific experience. Will never step foot in this restaurant ever again, and recommend others not to either. They don't even deserve the one star if I am very honest.

Sushi was good. Regulations regarding COVID in terms of capacity weren’t followed. Food very average, wasn’t even worth the price of it. I wouldn’t recommend the place for casual dining. Our waitress Nhlanhla was pretty accommodating at least.

This restaurant is just incredible, from top to bottom. Their food is unbelievable, with incredibly talented chefs behind the scenes. Their staff are so friendly and helpful, and the view and atmosphere is just to die for! You don't want to give this place a miss!

Bowl’d is expensive and quite overrated.Their food left nothing to be desired.I started with oysters which were not the best,I then had the soup which was very tasteless and had zero flavour.I was then hoping to enjoy my main meal (Lamb stew) which turned out to be the worst anti-climax,again,the stew was extremely watery,tasteless,zero flavour to the point that adding salt and pepper never helped.The service was not great either,the waitress was very impatient and unattentive.I’m definitely not going back there.The restaurant is beautiful to look at and it ends there!

The food was great and it's a beautiful venue but the service is absolutely slow, the waiters are not attentive and dont responded with haste. We had reserved a table but were referred to another table.

Went with work colleagues for Friday lunch. Very tastefully decorated, light & airy venue. Very extensive menu with wide variety of options for vegans, seafood and meat eaters. Everything we ordered from starter to mains to dessert was excellent. A really good wine menu as well. Only downside was the painfully slow service even though the place wasn’t that busy. Overall, definitely a venue worth going to.

This restaurant is massive with an amazing deck and hookah lounge. Prime location and a massive menu.. Maybe too massive a menu.. Perhaps concentrate on few goo dishes, but thats my view. The service was good and our waiter was excellent. The issue I have is 1. The sides served with my lamb chops and the whole seabass we had was awful. The fish was served with beans which were hard and frankly tasteless. The lambchops was served with what seemed like noodles from a packet.2. However the actual main was delicious and well made. Good flavors. I think this restaurant needs to get the person who cooks the main to cook the sides!All in all the food is very average.and for the price I'm sad to say not worth it.

We were very excited to go to Bowl'd as my husband is vegan and they sport an extensive vegan menu. I have rarely been so disappointed at a restaurant. The whole experience was just completely below any acceptable standard. Our table was for 7 pm and we were seated in the passage right next to the deck where a birthday party was still going on from the afternoon with blaring music and some very drunk people. The restaurant has a strict dress code on their website, however most people were in bikini like outfits which is not very appetising for a sit down dinner. We were a party of 11, we sent back 4 meals as they were inedible (2 fish, a steak and one other (can't remember)). I ordered a pink gin cocktail that was very not pink and didn't have a hint of gin in it. I had dim sum (mushroom) which was very nice and Halloumi Fingers which were absolutely bland and boring. My husband ordered the vegan wild rice bowl - it was drenched in completely overpowering truffle oil and the rice was plain white, definitely not wild. We tasted some of the vegan ice creams - really not great, so nobody actually braved a full portion. We were invited as it was a friend's treat but I would be loath to pay what is charged at this establishment. A complete rip off. I would not go back nor recommend it to anyone.

The restaurant is beautifully appointed and would be really great for those who want to be seen in Johannesburg. The food was mostly good though not overwhelming. The management made you feel that you were in a concentration camp and being stared at. These guys lack operational experience and they should consider getting professional help from an experienced restaurant manager. I think that the key to feeling better about the experience is to realise that this is not actually a 5 star service and fine dining restaurant yet. Go with the expectations of four stars and enjoy your evening.
