Bluebird Cafe

we arrived just a bit late for breakfast and a bit early for lunch. As we entered the manager said we could do the breakfast menu but when the waiter inally arrived he insisted that only lunch is an option. I don't know why, same price, why not humor us? Slow, man we sat for about an hour waiting. Eventually the hake and chips was acceptable I suppose. Didn't complain but left feeling disappointed.

Pleasant ambiance, good food and friendly service. Accommodating with kiddies as there is a good play area outside. The menu for kids is also adequate.This was our second visit and we are definitely going again soon.

Arrived Cape Town overnight.Needed a coffee to keep us alert .We stopped off at the Bluebird by chance .The reception was excellent,Flat white coffee was the best I have ever had (needed 2 cups was so good.The staff were superb.Shame it is not in our way back to the airport. The food we had scrambled egg and crossont, was also really good . Highly recommend

Loved the seating at back, strawberry fields with lots of strawberries. Menu was varied, something for everyone. We enjoyed what we chose, different. Staff were friendly and efficient. Definitely be back.

Sunday morning my wife and I stopped here for coffee on our way to a lunch date. This was the first time we stopped here. What a pleasant surprise! This little gem is beautifully decorated, the coffee was superb. We watched the other people having breakfast, the kids playing on the lawn and the play park and decided that we are definitely coming back.The staff was friendly and the service outstanding. Do not drive by without stopping.

We drove by and did a u-turn when we noticed this place. Stunning newly renovated - we totally loved it. We had a cortado which was delish!!! Will defs go back just for the coffee!!

Is it fair to judge a newly-opened establishment that is still finding its feet? Well, yes, if it’s prepared to take your money and charge you full price through the teething problems. But I am granting this one some slack, which is why it scored ***: otherwise my review might have been a bit harsher.The prices are on the steep side, given that it’s a sort of pop-in coffee shop/lite lunch venue. (You’ll get far better value for similar in Stellenbosch or Somerset West.) The breakfast offerings are somewhat limited (no “standard” bacon and egg-style English breakfast, for example), but what we did order was nice enough. The service was slow: the waiter himself was a bit frazzled (though friendly enough) and the food took quite some time in coming. A word for the proprietors: as noted, the place is new and is obviously still being set up. It’s tacky to have notices stuck up on the doors with Prestik and or to have menus scribbled on chalkboards. Little things do matter—having been and seen it, we’re unlikely to return.

Walked in and there was one other table there. Waitress greeted us and we chose our table. we were only three and it took ages for the drinks to arrive. Owner was walking around, or busy at her computer and not once did she greet us or check if everything was okay etc. only when I tried to get hold of the waitress did she come and ask what I needed and the. We finally got a smile and that was it! No goodbye, no is everything okay etc? Waitress very slow and needs more training but then if she has to go by he owners example then you can't expect more. She was very sweet and friendly though! The pizza was good, the omelette also but my Mexican breakfast was very bland with too much chili (but the chili issue was my fault as 8 should have checked). Hubby says breakfasts on the weekends after his cycling is nice as there are more people. Might try it one more time and see how it goes!

We stopped at this beautifully cafe heading back home. Nice pizzas and lamb riblets while picking strawberries. The waiter; name unknown to us gave us the best experience in a long time. He was a bit nervous but we enjoyed his service to us. A definite stop when you in the Stellenbosch outskirts. Great food guys.
