As a group of 8 guys staying in a B&B in PE for a week for a bowls tournament we were on the lookout for a place to eat. We were tipped off by a fellow bowler (from Durban!) that the Barn & Barrel was the place to go. We tried it on our first night there and went back twice! The atmosphere was great with large & small groups accommodated. Their specials were amazing and excellent value for money. The hosts went out of the way to ensure that we had a large enough table and the waitrons were knowledgeable & friendly. We will be back when next in PE!

The staff were very welcoming. The beer was on tap and ice cold. The hake was HUGE and the sides were delicious. We bot took take always it was so much. This is a gem of a place and the food was great. There was a man trying to take over behind us, but we didn't let that spoil the evening.....the duet band was a lovely touch.

Fish & chips special on Wednesday are the best "Two for one". Cant go wrong with the fish & chips special. Beer buttered crunchy dough. Always good music.

As we had just arrived from a 24-hour long trip from Europe we did not feel like really going out for dinner. This place was on the way back from the supermarket and we decided to give it a go. We ordered pan fried hake and a Greek salad and it was really nice, even though we suspected the fish to be deep fried. Next day we went back again and not had steaks, which were also good. The ambiance is really nice, the waiters and waitresses all incredibly friendly.

Always great atmosphere, good food and vibe. Sunday afternoon on the deck with the band playing is always a treat. Good local pub.

I could have overlooked the very average food and dingy ambience, but when someone at our table was charged R16 for two measly cucumber slices, things went pear-shaped and our waitress didn't handle being "challenged" on this charge very well. Food was OK. Dog in the restaurant... Not good.

Perhaps more appropriate for a less discerning crowd that is not seeking any fine eating experience. Unhealthy pub-like menu. Poor service. We left as nothing appealed.
