“Tasty Food”
One of the best places in Wellington I must say. Had breakfast with friends and the food was tasty and good! Service excellent. I can recommend this place to anyone for breakfast.

“Beautiful surroundings”
What a privilege to enjoy good food and good wine with good friends in such a beautiful and well kept garden and surroundings. The rose garden is outstanding even at this late stage of the season. The interior is exquisite. Can highly recommend Poach eggs and Salmon with Hollandaise sauce. The service was average. Tables were not cleaned. Management? had her breakfast at a table, not friendly what so ever during our stay.

“Gem of a venue”
This is a absolute beauty of a venue! Large well kept lawns, large dam and beautiful buildings. We were invited for a 60th birthday lunch with a set menu. The sweet & sour pork belly was very nice, but the chicken was dry and a bit bland. The malva pudding looked great and tasted great

“Great food in an idyllic setting”
A secret restaurant in Wellington that one does not want to praise appropriately so as to keep the crowds away. But that would not be fair! The food is great, the setting is idyllic [luxurious garden overlooking a Dam] and the staff are friendly.

“Beautiful venue but staff are not around much”
The venue is beautiful and the gardens exquisite, probably because they have so many sprinklers going for at least an hour every day, (I assume it’s borehole water). The big surprise with these multiple sprinklers spraying thousands of litres onto their lush gardens daily, is that they have removed the bath plug from the rooms! If they have so much water, be it from a borehole or a stream, it is very surprising that they don’t divert a little of it so guests can have a bath!!! There are notices for guests to save water in the rooms. It seemed very hypocritical that guests are advised to save water, even forced, with the bath plug removed, when you see the amount of water going onto the gardens every day! We were truly gobsmacked! The staff, who you only see in the mornings, are very nice and friendly. Breakfast is delicious. I did not see any staff anywhere over the three days we were there, other than in the morning at breakfast. If you need something, you must go and get it for yourself as there is not a staff member to help you or even a telephone in the room. Lovely linen but terrible pillows. I slept very badly due to the hard pillows. I travel extensively and it is always surprising when establishments don’t offer feather pillows as an alternative to hard foam pillows. The rooms are beautifully decorated, very spacious and well appointed. The “bathrooms” are scattered all over the room and lack any privacy whatsoever. I do not like to use the ablutions in front of other people, even my partner and consequently I ended up being constipated. The bath and basins are in the bedroom but far apart and the toilet is behind a tiny screen that does not even extend to the floor, ceiling or walls. It was very unusual and not at all pleasant to use. The decor is so beautiful so it’s hard to fathom how they came up with such a terrible configuration.

“Wonderful visit”
Stayed here for a short one night visit and what a pleasure. It's a beautiful estate. Accommodation was wonderful, the gardens are a delight filled with roses and lavender. The food was excellent, although proper sausages and not frankfurters would have been better at breakfast but overall a lovely place to stay with no complaints at all.

“Beautiful!!”
Attending a wedding in the area this past weekend, my husband and I spent the night at this delightful guest house. From the moment we arrived and walked into the wonderful garden, we loved every minute. Welcomed by Givemore who showed us to a most comfortable and elegantly decorated room, we then enjoyed a light lunch on the floating deck over the lake. Glorious views and enchanting garden spaces. Breakfast was delicious and again we enjoyed impeccable service from Givemore. We ended out breakfast relaxing on the deck with our final cup of coffee and wished we could stay longer ....
