Allora - Franschhoek

Lockdown spoiled our stay in Franschoek as all restaurants were closed and only allowed to do take aways. We opted for a pizza and risotto take away to enjoy back at our accommodation. Blown away! Very good pizza and the prawn risotto was excellent. TIP: Have the prawn risotto.

This restaurant is a must when visiting Franschhoek. The prawn risotto is my go-to dish - consistently excellent. The restaurant is casual and laid back - good for families, friends or couples.

I gifted family with a dinner at Allora, my favourite restaurant in Main Street Franschhoek. It was a wonderful experience, despite different protocols (early cash up and closure) and curfew. I was most impressed with the general handling of Covid regulations. The service and care was first class, as well as the food. Spoil yourself to an outing to a lovely experience. It lifts the painful reality of Covid-19.They are prepared to meet you halfway with complex dietary restrictions. Depicted in the photo is a vegan gluten-free pizza.

Light supper outside, great service, food was as always up to a high standard and not expensive. We use Allora every time we visit Franchhoek. Keep it up guys, your good.

Such a shame this evening to write a bad review as I do love this place. I arrived, got seated and didn’t see anyone for 15 minutes. I had to get up and go to the entrance to get some attention. It was nearly 30 minutes before I got a drink and served. The Arrabiata was great though. I hope seeing bad reviews will help the restaurant address the service issues. It wasn’t even busy when I was there. Sorry!

I ordered a regina pizza and the what the origin of the ingredients were on top of the pizza I received, I shudder to imagine. The "Ham" bore a very faint resemblance to the actual product, was cubed and looked like a compressed concoction. The taste can at best be described as utterly vile. No thank you. Goodbye.

We were walking along the Main Street deciding where to eat when a local resident told us - ‘Best pizzas in town!’ We decided to try out Allora and we weren’t disappointed! Stunning decor, friendly staff, good service and most important great food! I had gluten free pizza and my hubby had lasagna!

While strolling around finding a lunch spot we discovered this lovely courtyard which was sheltered from the chilly breeze and away from the noisy road. There was ausician playing nearby which added to the atmosphere. Service was excellent and so were our meals including the pasta with prawns and calamari and the mushroom risotto. Desserts were delicious too especially the lemon cake.We will definitely return (also they still following strict Covid protocols whilst most places visited recently are becoming very relaxed).

I feel TERRIBLE writing a bad review when the restaurant is clearly struggling with a lack of patrons, but I equally don't want visitors to spend their hard earned money on sub-standard food. The menu us too big and I would suggest that they cut it down so as to offer brilliant tasting food.
