Function Facilities
Background:

The predecessor to our club, Ghenwa’s Lebanese Cooking Club, started some years ago with day time cooking workshops that were held at our residence, where we could accommodate up to 12 people. By request from participants who wished to involve their husbands, relatives and friends, these workshops were followed by less intensive and more fun workshops combined with food and wine pairing events that usually took place in the evenings or weekends. As we did not have the venue that could accommodate more than 12 people, we hired venues. Increase in demand for such events, prompted us to have our own place and are the background for the design of our new venue.

The venue features the following facilities:

1. A friendly reception area, featuring shelves stocked with fresh in house specialties.
2. The cooking workshop theater that accommodates up to 14 guests/learners, and is outfitted as a friendly home kitchen.
3. The back kitchen that is outfitted to handle the increasing demand for catering and preparation for booked lunches and dinners and larger special events.
4. Our luxurious hall that actually integrates the cooking workshop theater, can accommodate up to 48 seating guests and features, among others, a Steinway baby grand piano (accessible only to professional musicians by special arrangement).
5. A large deck, covered by an attractive Bedouin tent, featuring 4 x 6 seater benches and, on warmer days, can be used as an extension to our hall.
6. A cozy, fully licensed bar and it’s fully acclimatized and spacious wine cellar, where we can offer fine coffees, soft drinks, beers, a decent selection of liquors and, a wide selection of wines.
7. A well manicured garden with ample grass covered space, accessible for guests who wish to picnic.

Rates:

Mondays through Thursdays : R 15,000.00
Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays: R. 20,000.00(Rates are applied if venue is booked exclusively for one group and/or event. All rates excluding VAT).

Included:

1. 8 large 2m by 1m tables seating 4 to 8 guests.
2. 48 elegant and comfortable chairs
3. Standard white table cloths & standard white napkins.
4. Crockery, cutlery, for 5 course meals.
5. Glassware for water and 3 different size wine glasses.
6. Access to fully licensed bar with 3 bar chairs, leather couch and fireplace.
7. Access to our deck, including featured benches and umbrellas and controlled access to our lawn.
8. Basic background music.
9. Secured paved parking (R 10 per vehicle).

Excluded:

1. Catering* & special set ups.
2. Service staff: waitress/waitrons (1 per 10 guests @ R 100 per hour).
3. Special décor: flowers, ceremony desk, special stationary for specific menu prints.
4. Live entertainment and related sound systems, or projectors and related equipment.
5. Crockery, cutlery and glassware above amounts included.
6. Photographer &/or videographer.
7. Engineering certificate for any temporary structures (tents, deck covers, etc.)
8 Beverages from the bar (beyond negotiated cash bar if any).
9. Bar staff: (1 per 48 guests @ R 200 per hour)
10. Special coordinator/floor manager (R 300 per hour).

*a). Dietary requirements according to specifications and including: halal, kosher, vegetarian, gluten free, at 10% above agreed price per head.
b). wedding, birthday and /or celebratory cakes to be negotiated.


Outside catering is discouraged. A R 15,000.00 applied.
Own wines discouraged. A corking fee of R 100 per bottle applied.

Terms and Conditions Apply:

1. All rates are quoted in ZAR (south African Rand), excluding VAT.
2. Rates are subject to change, unless contract/agreement is signed.
3. Bookings must be confirmed within 24 hours.
4. A 50% non refundable deposit on total quote and signed contract/agreement required for confirmation of booking.
5. Ghenwa’s Culinary Club reserves the right to cancel all services booked, if full payment has not been received 6 working days before the event.
6. A Damage deposit of R 5,000.00 is required with the last payment. Should there be no damage or theft incurred, full amount is refunded within 15 days. Damages include: floor, ceiling, walls, breakage or missing of cutlery, crockery and glassware. Should damages exceed the deposit, client will be informed and billed accordingly.
7. Bar terms for special arrangements must be negotiated in advance and agreed at the time of booking. Cash bar is recommended.
8. Delivery of accessories beyond those included, can be done by arrangement the day before the event. Changes and related costs must be agreed upon and signed as addendum to the contract.
9. Client is required to be informed and comply with safety and security procedures and general rules of conduct of the Lourensford Estate.
10. Site inspection and reviewing is by appointment only. Please note that Ghenwa’s Culinary Club operates as a restaurant only by booking. Furthermore, on days that we host exclusive events, no access to regular clients is possible.
11. Normal operating hours are:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:oo a.m. to 23:oo p.m.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday and special holidays: 9:oo a.m. to 24:oo p.m.
Mondays by special arrangement only.
Unless arranged otherwise, client should have departed from Lourensford Estate by not later than 0:30 a.m.
