The Gardener's Cottage is the original Gatekeepers lodge which formed part of the original Monte Bello Estate.
The Homestead, Michaelis House, is now part of the S.A.C.S. School (next door). The out buildings and Gardener's Cottage now form part of the Monte Bello Design Centre.

The Monte Bello Design Centre is a developmental project aimed at promoting good local design and using craft for job creation. Visit some of the studios in the centre and you'll find a wealth of craft shops, ongoing research and workshops and classes to broaden your horizons.
The Gardener's Cottage is privately owned and it's owner/chef has undertaken to train unskilled people in the art of cooking. They are open for light lunches, teas, breakfasts.

This restaurant is found nestled on the Monte Bello Estate in picturesque Newlands Avenue.
It can be reached from Muizenberg by following the M3 freeway, past Claremont. Turn right into Newlands Avenue and you'll find The Gardener's Cottage on the right hand side of the road.
From Cape Town, the M3 can be accessed from De Waal Drive or Eastern Boulevard.
Newlands Avenue then turns off on the left.
