Devil’s Peak Brewing Company was born in the craft beer revolution where it is proud to have a part in educating the South African beer consumers on the variety and quality that exists across the beer landscape. In March of 2012, after two years of business case development, recipe development, garage brewing, government applications, and acquiring the right talent, Devil’s Peak Brewing Company was ready to show South Africa what it was capable of.

We started publicly trading in and around Cape Town with our Founder’s Series of beers. These four beers – King’s Blockhouse IPA & First Light Golden Ale, Woodhead Amber Ale and Silvertree Saison – would be dubbed the Founder’s Series. As we have evolved, so too has our beers. It now includes the addition of our #DPBC Pale Ale and Lager while the Woodhead Amber Ale and Silvertree Saison have become part of our seasonal range.

It wasn’t too long before demand for Devil’s Peak was outstripping supply, so we decided to move from our small setup in Somerset West to a new production facility in Cape Town. This new space, with beautiful views of Devil’s Peak and Table Mountain, was the perfect spot to call home. We also decided it would be a great place to open our very own brewpub – The Taproom.

Situated at the foot of Devil’s Peak, The Taproom is our inviting pub and restaurant which showcases the latest creations from DPBC. Enjoy a craft beer with our exceptional food, or simply relax with a pint while soaking in the beautiful mountain views.

The Taproom sources the freshest local produce to bring you our exciting menu. Some of these unique dishes have already been established with local favourites such as our famous cheese burger, legendary pulled pork sandwich and the Devil’s hot wings. Our menu is constantly evolving, so new and exciting dishes are always on the horizon.

With our new facility, we were able to expand the scope of Devil’s Peak to include new beer styles. This started with our first barrel aged offering, the Vannie Hout. Allowed to rest in oak barrels for up to six months, this brett-infused, bottle conditioned specialty beer was released in limited quantities. Since the initial launch of the Vannie Hout, Devil’s Peak has also released the Vin de Saison, My Bloody Valentine, and Grapes of Wrath into our Specialty Series – all to great acclaim. We have some very exciting plans for this part of our brewing venture, so check back often to see what we’ve been working on!

A taste of things to come can be found in our most recent additions to the Devil’s Peak family of beers which includes the Black South Easter Black IPA and Cabin Fever Amber Ale. Keep an eye out for more seasonal beers launching throughout the year, as our styles and ranges are always evolving.

The future for Devil’s Peak is bright. We have so many exciting things on the horizon for our fans and will continue to push the boundaries of craft beer in South Africa well into the future.
