The Royal Oke was opened in late 2015 by power couple and food-lovers, Daniel and Else- Marie Lenton. Situated in the picturesque countryside of Stanford, the newly-established eatery is already turning heads for all the right reasons. With their vision to ‘create a restaurant worthy of its location’, the eatery is becoming known for its farm-styled, country-fresh cuisine. Meals are prepared using local produce and fresh ingredients – sometimes even handpicked from the back garden!

Diners will be privy to an unparalleled, al fresco dining experience in the setting of a tranquil country house. One can enjoy a range of quality dishes while marvelling at the uninterrupted views of the Kleinrivier Mountains, the sprawling vineyards and surrounding valleys. Nothing can quite compare to the joys of a classic breakfast in the rural countryside. For a greasy fry-up, opt for the hearty ‘Farmers Breakfast’. This meal is intended for the hungrier of patrons with its serving of two free-range eggs, bacon, boerewors, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, baked beans and a slice of toasted sourdough. If you’re looking for something on the lighter side, the American-style blueberry pancakes served with crème fraîche is a sweet treat that fills the spot. Accompany your food with a classic ‘Mimosa’ cocktail or if you’re looking for something alcohol-free, a hot cup of coffee.

If you’re looking to share a snack with friends, the ‘Mezze Platter’ comes recommended by the chefs themselves – feast on a selection of hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki and flat bread. The Royal Oke is known for their well-matured meats and fresh line fish specials, so if you’re there for dinner make sure to try out these specialities. The ‘35-day aged Hereworth Steak’ is a must-try, and is served with hand-cut chips, garden cherry tomatoes and a salsa verde. Those looking to go the seafood route should give the grilled ‘Kabeljou try. This tasty meal is served with mashed potatoes, green beans and capers, and is drizzled with a sultana and cranberry dressing.
