With 6 restaurants in the group as well as a number of fast food outlets, it is clear that the Raj Indian Restaurants have gone from strength to strength since the first restaurant opened in 1995. The founder Dr Arun Jairath is passionate about providing simply the best Indian cuisine, and the continuing expansion of this group bears testimony to his dedication. The Raj Montecasino is surprisingly intimate considering the bustling location and its welcoming ambience typifies the warmth of true Indian hospitality.
Tastefully furnished, the décor reflects a more modern approach with a softer colour palette than is normally associated with Indian restaurants. Less is more in this case, and a few well chosen traditional Hindu icons are all that is needed to complete the elegant décor.
For an intimate dining experience eat inside the restaurant and for those who enjoy the more stimulating vibe of the casino piazza there are plenty of outside tables. As with all the Raj restaurants, there is an excellent wine list to compliment your meal.
The menu offers all the splendor of traditional North Indian cuisine prepared by master Indian chefs from India. Starter recommendations are the Punjabi Samoosas and Paneer Tikka. For mains the Lamb Rojanjosh with butter naan will certainly set the tastebuds tingling. Another firm favourite is the Chicken Tikka Masala which is available in a Prawn option too. For dessert cool down with the Gulab Jamun and Mango Sorbet.
