The Raj Indian Restaurant in Constantia Village is the latest Raj branch to open in Cape Town. It offers all the splendour of traditional North Indian cuisine in the swanky southern suburbs. The Raj master chefs are all originally from India and bring with them at least seven proud generations of Indian culinary knowledge and tradition.
The menu at the Raj is considered by many to be the most authentic Indian cuisine available in the country. Typically spicy, delicious and traditional, the menu offers a large variety of authentic Indian culinary styles such as Tikka Masala, Vindaloo, Korma and Bhoona. All curries are available from mild to hot and each curry includes a selection of meats to choose from. A selection of biryanis and breads are recommended – they are cooked in the traditional ‘Tandoori’ clay oven. A comprehensive vegetarian menu is also available for the non-meat-eaters.
In addition to the authentic Indian cuisine, the Raj in Constantia has a special surprise. It also serves delicious and unique sushi, a legacy inherited from the restaurant from which the Raj took over. This unusual pairing makes for a truly unique dining experience. Tastefully furnished, the décor reflects a more modern approach to traditional Indian restaurant décor. Less is more in this case, and a few well-chosen traditional Hindu icons are all that is needed to complete the elegant interior.
