The Raj Indian Restaurant offers all the splendour of traditional North Indian cuisine. With master chefs all hailing from India and bringing with them at least seven proud generations of Indian culinary knowledge and traditions, The Raj boasts the most authentic Indian cuisine in the country. The Bryanston branch is located at the popular Nicolway Centre.
The Raj Indian Restaurant menu offers a large variety of authentic Indian culinary styles such as Tikka Masala, Vindaloo, Korma and Bhooma. Popular dishes include the Butter Chicken - a delicate combination of flavoured Tandoori chicken in cardamom, tomato and cashew nut gravy. A favourite lamb dish is Kaliya Kesar - deboned cubes of lamb cooked in creamy saffron and yoghurt gravy enriched with cashew nuts and almonds.
Vegetarians are well catered for with many dishes made with Paneer - homemade cheese, such as Paneer Makhni (paneer in a tomato, butter and cream sauce), or Saag Paneer (paneer sautéed in a spinach gravy tempered with garlic and cumin), another vegetarian favourite is Dal Makhni - black lentils cooked on a slow fire with fresh herbs, sundried spices and fresh cream.
The Raj Indian restaurant group has been bringing a taste of real Indian cuisine to South African diners for some 19 years now, and has expanded to include 8 restaurants and 9 express stores all over the country.
