The Charles Café, a hidden gem, situated in the heart of De Waterkant Village. The space has on numerous occasions attempted to make a name for itself in the village and now once again, with the main aim of the new owners, that of going back to the roots of good, wholesome, local food. Because… good food brings good people together!

The Charles Café boasts scrumptious all-day breakfasts such as our now becoming firm favourite Breakfast Risotto and Smoked Haddock Eggs Benedict. Dishes can be enjoyed outdoors with bench seating under the trees or on the walk around balcony while listening to the calming sounds of the birds and garden water fountain.

The Café also serves up light lunches, excellent coffee by Hout Bay Coffee Roastery, speciality loose-leaf teas by Lady Bonin's, homemade pastries, preserves and takeaway yummies.

Our dining room, boasting an antique fireplace, is great for Winter. The space is perfect for intimate coffee dates and business meet-ups but on warmer days we suggest putting on your sunnies and SPF30 to enjoy the unexpected city views and heaps of sunshine from the quaint roof deck.

In season the café extends its hours into the early evenings for snacks, personally selected wines from small batch vineyards, and dinners. The café is also available to cater intimate private functions.
