Cape Town’s newest Delicatessen & Restaurant, SMAK aims to create a space that puts lower Bree Street on the map in Cape Town's food scene.
Opened by two young entrepreneurial chefs Katia (21) and Devin (23) in February 2016 patrons will feast on food created with passion and flair.
They have combined her knowledge of pastry, and his knowledge of ingredients and just about everything else in the kitchen to create a fusion menu inspired by their fine dining training at The Test Kitchen, as well as their experiences from their travels in Europe.
Situated on one of the Mother City’s most trendy streets means that Smak contends with a string of vibey bars, bistros, eateries, and cafés. Despite such competition, the eatery brings something new and innovative to the table. Smak is the ideal space for corporates looking to grab a snack or light meal, for catch-ups over freshly-brewed coffee and indulgent treats, or lazy Saturday breakfasts with family.
The family-run business makes you feel right at home with their warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food is meticulously prepared from scratch where only the finest ingredients are used.
For breakfast, enjoy ‘Granny’s Granola’ – a meal that leaves you reminiscing over the home cooked meals made by your gran. The dish is delicious, nutritious, and is packed with granola, an assortment of fruit, toasted seeds, dates, beurre noisette, maple syrup emulsion, and is served with coconut milk.
Diners with a love for classic Italian dishes can choose from a selection of fresh pasta. The ‘Bacon Double Zero’ is homemade and sates all cravings. If you’re in the mood for something that’s lighter on the stomach, the ‘Crustless Quiche Of The Day’ is ideal for a quick snack and is served with a rocket, tomato and feta salad.
Lunch-on-the-go doesn't have to be grease-laden and unhealthy. If you don’t have the time for a leisurely meal, opt for a gourmet sandwich to take away or call in and order a meal to be delivered to your office (limited to surrounding areas).
The SMAK deli displays are filled with local and imported cold meats and cheeses with freshly baked breads to compliment and there is a variety homemade patisseries to indulge in.
If you have a special occasion or event coming up, you can rely on Smak to cater for your every needs - be it canapé style snacks or a four tiered birthday cake.
