After the success of Rock Sushi Thai in Meadowridge, it was inevitable that this dynamic group was to expand. The original architect was brought in and what has emerged on the corner of Dean and Main Streets in Newlands Cape Town can be considered a worthy successor to its sister in Meadowridge. Design wise the DNA of the group has been kept the same, with the look and feel of the new restaurant growing organically as the space demanded.
Both the Head Sushi Chef and Head Thai Chef have worked tiresley training up a new crew, ensuring that quality and consistency remains the same between Hermanus, Meadowridge and Newlands.
The sushi menu has been bolstered by some unique and very tasty offerings, including snow rolls, green rolls, straight jacket prawns, maki roquette’s and the dubiously named cucumber screw, and have proved to be extremely popular with the Newlands sushi eating community.
The Thai menu is full of fragrant, fresh and tasty food from the east. The scent of lemongrass, ginger, Thai basil and coriander permeate the air as the chefs bang their woks while creating curries, stirfries and noodle dishes. The Angry Duck is a firm favourite, as well as the perfectly balanced Tom Yum Soup and the traditional Phad Thai noodle stirfry.
The long bar counter is perfect for informal dining and a very comfy spot to enjoy a few drinks before or after your meal. The restaurant has already become a favourite in Newlands and booking is advisable. Take-aways are very welcome and we will also gladly assist you if would like to use our venue for a private function.
Driving on the M3 take the Princess Ann turn-off towards Newlands. Continue onto Newlands Avenue, road swerving to your right. At the traffic lights at Dean Street, turn left and continue until you reach the corner of Main Street and Dean.
