Posticino, as the name suggests, is an Italian eatery serving up traditional Italian fare in a lovely setting. The pioneer Posticino is a thriving establishment in Sea Point which was set up by two native Italians, Giocchino and Enrico, over 15 years ago. Over time its popularity has spread and a new store was opened in Hout Bay. With its delicious, authentic menu, gorgeous setting and welcoming atmosphere, Posticino Hout Bay does the Posticino brand proud.
The Hout Bay eatery is situated at the foot of Chapman’s Peak Drive and boasts a wonderful indoor outdoor flow. The interior of the restaurant is warm and inviting with textured yellow walls, small murals and a large window covering most of one wall. The patio has an extraordinary view of the bay and Sentinel Peak, and is the perfect spot from which to watch the sunset.
One of the things which makes Posticino so popular as an eatery is its authenticity, which is most easily identifiable by the food. The menu can best be described as a loving tribute to Italy and boasts all the traditional dishes you would usually expect. The difference is in the fresh, simple ingredients which go into each dish and the Italian energy and love with which each is made.
The menu is in Italian (with translations obviously) and includes antipastis such as funghi grigliati – grilled black mushrooms with melted mozzarella and garlic and prosciutto crudo – prosciutto ham with seasonal fruit and provolone cheese; insalatas like caprese – tomato, mozzarella and basil, and al pesce green salad – green salad with pan fried calamari and tomato; there is also a wide choice of pasta dishes available as well as pizzas, veal and chicken dishes.
