Since having been converted from a beautiful thatched home to a wedding, conference and restaurant venue in the early 90’s, Ramkietjie Country Estate has seen its way through many transformations. Twenty two years later, the venue boasts itself as one of the top wedding venues and entertainment spots in the West Rand.

Ramkietjie is currently undergoing an extensive revamp to offer even more options to guests. The Old Farmhouse restaurant is receiving a facelift with a new look and a new menu, offering clients “contemporary dining meets casual comforts”.

By the end of November, visitors can also expect ten beautifully furnished rooms overlooking the gardens, ideal for those romantic getaways, wedding nights or stay-overs after a good party. A day spa will also be launched in the New Year, offering a variety of pampering options as well as a hairdresser and make-up artist.

The venue prides itself on its beautiful surroundings. Set amongst giant willow trees, where peacocks roam the river banks, a jewel unfolds to reveal Ramkietjie Country Estate. From the main road, the winding entrance leads guests to a 24-hour secure parking area. A pleasant stroll (wheelchair friendly) steers you across a wooden footbridge to the tranquil – yet trendy – venue that offers more than just the average experience.

Patrons are truly spoilt for choice. Ramkietjie is a multi-purpose country estate, where people can come and relax with friends, family and colleagues, from conferences or product launches to special occasions or even just an intimate dinner or relaxed lunch.

The venue boasts four function venue settings. The Wilge is the largest room, catering for up to 250 guests. During the summer, generous French doors open to reveal the deck overlooking the splendor of the gardens and river, while in winter, a fireplace provides warmth and comfort. For more modest functions, the Lapa offers an outdoor thatched area ideal for cocktail functions or wedding ceremonies, while the Hornbill and Zebra rooms offer a more intimate environment for functions of less than 80 people.

Until the Old Farmhouse officially opens, restaurant facilities have been made available on the Deck overlooking the river. The restaurant is open daily from 08h30 till late. An authentic pub on the upper deck is exceptionally inviting and guests are guaranteed a place to unwind after work or on weekends to watch their sport of choice.

Travel North or South on Hendrik Potgieter Road (M47) towards Ruimsig. Take the Peter Road turnoff, continue straight ahead on Peter Road for approximately 3km. Passing the Top Car Dealer on your left then turn right onto winding road leads to Ramkietjie Country Estate.
