Veteran restaurant gurus, Naldo and Victor Gonçalves, owners of the super stylish Pigalle venue in Green Point, Cape Town have brought their award winning concept to Johannesburg with the opening of Pigalle - Bedfordview conveniently located in the Village View Centre.
For 25 years, brothers Naldo and Victor's legendary reputation for opening highly successful restaurants has continued to develop from strength to strength and the charismatic duo have been awarded numerous accolades for their contribution to hospitality in South Africa. The boys are most recently back in Jozi, doing what they do best with a brilliant new partner in Charly Da Mota and managing partner Vasco Velho to complete the awe-inspiring team.
Pigalle - Bedfordview is a state-of-the-art "Wildlife-chic' fine dining locale, effortlessly leading the popularity stakes with its unique charm, abstract artworks, locally-forged two meter wide chandeliers and use of crocodile skin, cowhide and ostrich leather. South African Interior Designer, Deborah Whitken has yet again used her astonishing talent to create an opulent yet warm and refined atmosphere with comfort and pleasure oozing from every inch of the earthy African tints.
Whether you’re out for a special occasion or simply looking for an outstanding dining experience, Pigalle Bedfordview is the superior venue for lunch and dinner. This 180-seater venue reflects the Gonçalves brothers Mediterranean flair for life with its sumptuous vibe, stunning open-planned kitchen and focus “on the grill”. Specializing in traditional Portuguese cuisine whilst using the best selling dishes served over the many years, the menu at Pigalle Bedfordview is sensational with impeccably prepared simple ingredients, emphasising fish, meat, olive oil, and spices.
For starters, Pigalle Bedfordview offers a sumptuous selection of seafood, meat dishes, salads and soups. Amongst which are the highly popular “Prawns A Guilho” sautéed in a white wine, garlic and infused peri-peri. Meat lovers can indulge in a variety of dishes from the delicious “Trinchado”- pan fried cubes of lean beef served with a tangy lightly spiced sauce to the thinly sliced “Venison Carpaccio” served with celery and parmesan shavings, drizzled with balsamic reduction.
For the main course, there is a marvellous array of super quality wet aged beef from the grill, several classic meat dishes, their internationally acclaimed shellfish, fresh local line fish and some succulent poultry dishes. From the “Meats” selection is the “Lamb Shank” slow roasted in red wine and fresh herbs, served with sweet potato, mash and stir-fry veg and amongst the “Shellfish” you’ll find a great selection of “Prawns”, butter-flied and grilled to the long standing recipe- ranging from the Queens to the Tiger Giants.
To end a perfect evening, there is a lovely selection of desserts ranging from the Hot Malva Pudding to the Pavlova and the cheese platter. Speciality coffees and a wide selection of after-dinner drinks are also available.
