Myoga has a very relaxed, engaging atmosphere, where diners are encouraged to feel at home. The bar lounge, the terraces and the cellar are all places with different moods where diners can find what they are looking for. High-backed sofa booths in the main dining area allow a sense of fun and privacy. Given Mike’s belief in that the dining experience is supposed to be relaxed, the kitchen is open-plan, encouraging guests to enjoy the theatre of the kitchen.
Keeping in line with the restaurant’s atmosphere, the bathrooms are designed to incorporate a sense of fun, with off-beat features and the unusual presence of TV’s screening a live feed from the kitchen.
The setting maintains a subtle historical semblance with the presence of Lady Anne Barnard’s stove in the entrance hall and the preservation of the original ballroom dance floor. The unique layout of the restaurant, as well the knowledgeable communiqué of the staff allows you to enjoy the theatre of the kitchen, and encourages guest interaction.
From lunch to dinner, private dining, weddings, canapé and cocktail functions, special occasions, or business functions, the restaurant offers a variety of dining opportunities.
Myoga offers a contemporary fusion cuisine menu that entices the mind, excites the eye and tantalizes the taste buds to new extremes. It is what Myoga calls an “east meets west” menu, which crosses a multitude of cultures and flavours.
Myoga has become renowned for “The Tasting Menu” essentially what has developed is not a degustation menu but rather a tasting a la carte. The myriad of choices makes the menu a fantastic success as it allows each diner their individual dining experience. Mike Bassett believes that a large selection of choices per course offers everybody something that appeals to them personally. There aren’t many tasting menus available that offer such variety of choice, and “The Tasting Menu” has become an experience unique to Myoga. The tasting menu is R385 per person or should you wish to include the wine pairing package R670 per person
An intricately paired wine package, constructed by Myoga’s beverage duo, Jade Forbes and Sommelier Lisa Gordge, starts you off with a magnificent glass of local bubbly and offers the opportunity to enjoy some of South Africa’s finest wines perfectly paired with each dish.
If you going out to dance the night away after dinner or just in for a quick bite, choose your dishes from the a la Carte menu, a selection of the favorite dishes from the tasting menu for you to enjoy on a more substantial scale.
Lunch caters for the local corporate market and is a casual yet sophisticated affair. Lunchtime at Myoga allows you to sit on the patio on warm days and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of 6 acres of lush gardens with Table Mountain as a backdrop. On colder days you’re still able to view the gorgeous vista in comfort behind the safety of their full-length glass wall. Whether you join Myoga for a quick bite or you take your time, you couldn’t ask for a prettier backdrop to enjoy their delectable cuisine that will leave your taste buds tingling.
The private dining table in the cellar is designed for those who don’t want to be disturbed. Myoga’s private dining can accommodate a dinner party or corporate meeting of 10 to 16 guests. Raw-brick walls and wooden-beams add to the old-school ambience, and diners can bring their own music to create the mood if desired. The menu is per usual but the chef is happy to offer tasting menus if requested as well as food and wine pairings.
