Iewers Nice is a quirky eatery and coffee shop in Westdene, Bloemfontein. It is a great place to meet up for lunch or chat over a coffee. The décor is fun and is guaranteed to put you in a good mood, while the solid menu will ensure that you stay in a good mood.
Iewers Nice means ‘somewhere nice’ in Afrikaans and this little café certainly lives up to its name. Apart from a pleasant patio area, complete with a hanging tumble weed and high-back velvet-covered arm chairs, there is an inviting indoor area which is a feast for the eyes. Chandeliers hang from the ceiling and gilt frames hang from the walls. This contrasts sharply with the funky modern wall paper and brightly-painted furniture. However, despite the busy-ness of the scene, it is perfectly inviting and indeed, relaxing to dine here.
The menu has an array of sections from breakfasts, salads, quiches and sandwiches, to tapas and mains – all scrumptious, and that’s before you get a taste of the home-made cakes. Stand-out items on the menu include the elaborate ‘rosti revelation’ dish – vegetable & potato rosti piled with brie, mushrooms, caramelised onion, egg and salami, the spinach and parmesan gnocchi mains, and the fun tapas – a mix-and-match-your-own affair.
Whether you come by for coffee and cake or a full on meal, you will leave satisfied. The next time you are wondering about Iewers nice to eat, you will have your answer!
