Located in the heart of the mother city, a stone throw away from Adderley Street, is Hokey Poke, South Africa's first ever dedicated poke restaurant. Hailing from the shores of Hawaii, Hokey Poke is a new concept focused around Poke, ( a classic Hawaiian pupu or snack) which is a centuries-old tradition, Poke is Hawaiian for “to cut crosswise into pieces,”. It is basically a build-a-bowl that starts with a starch base, a protein and a variety of toppings to choose from. They also have an outlet in Mojo Market in Sea Point.
All food at Hokey Poke is freshly prepared on site and all spices and sauces are imported. The meals are very healthy as they consist of a lot of veggies. The interior is very relaxed, with barstools and a table. Due to the nature of the dish meals are prepared quickly with meals being prepared in 5-10 minutes, so no long waits! The age of unhealthy fast food is over.
Popular dishes include the No. 3 and 5 and favourite sides include Edamame Beans with lime and Furikake. So if you’re looking to try fast healthy food, and something different, head up to Cape Town CBD for a taste of Hawaii.
