The magnificent 300-year old Hazendal Wine Estate has been completely re-imagined and is re-opening on the 26th of December.

Over the coming months, we'll be hard at work on the farm and in the cellar to restore our buildings to their past glory and to elevate our product offering. When these upgrades are revealed in due course, we promise an experience of unsurpassed excellence that will wow and delight our valued guests.

Stayed tuned for future updates as more information becomes available.

Travelling the wine routes of the Western Cape doesn't have to be all about wine tastings, many Stellenbosch restaurants offer food of the highest quality. Hazendal Wine Estate is no exception and the Hermitage Restaurant offers food and wine pairing at its absolute best.

Set out in the estate's original wine cellar, the setting of this Stellenbosch restaurant is both beautiful and stylish. The elegant restaurant is separated from the working cellar by large glass walls, offering a view of the fermentation tanks and oak maturation barrels. The main interior has the most gorgeous painted ceiling; tables are also set in the adjoining, vine covered courtyards. In winter the fireplace creates a very warm and intimate ambience, also providing an unusual backdrop for the more informal function or just a wonderful way to end off your evening with coffee.

You can enjoy a wine tasting around the roaring fire or relax over a starter with the new wine cellar as an unusual backdrop. But is the cuisine of this restaurant that truly makes it exceptional. A fusion of Russian traditional foods and local South African delicacies, the menu offers many new sensations that are ideally complemented by Hazendal's fine wines.

Picnics are served seven days a week and cost R135 per head. Booking is essential (at least one day in advance). There are kiddies picnics at R45 per head which offer offer a nice variety of foods your child will enjoy.
