Dukes Burgers. The name says it all. Burgers fit for royalty
Dukes opened its doors during the soccer world cup 2010. Dukes single handedly made burgers cool again and brought a whole new level of freshness and originality to Greenside. One of our primary aims is to create a unique experience of flavours and unique combinations. Therefore, even the most regular of patrons always has something new on offer.
It was and always will be extremely important that we create, cook, and bake everything in our kitchen. Our kitchen is non-stop: from early morning daily deliveries of meat and vegetables, to the kneading of dough for our freshly baked rolls. We start early with baking fresh dessert pies, to hand cut chips, daily fresh meat, pickling, drying tomatoes and making homemade mayonnaise, and that’s just off the top of our heads! We source our ingredients from a variety of local retailers. Dukes prides itself on catering for everyone, be you a carnivore, vegetarian or vegan.
We also believe that the feast should start with the eyes, so each of our burgers are masterpieces. Customers stop and gawk at the burgers as they make their way to their rightful owner. Each burger is stacked up high, carefully layered with toppings and garnishes, plates piled with chips or wedges. For the most time, a quick snap shot has to be taken and shared on social media, before being devoured. Our portions are way above average, just because we can, no reason leaving a burger joint hungry.
Serving a wide variety (more the 40 burgers) from beef, chicken, lamb, ostrich to wagyu, our customers are spoiled with choice. We’ve also given special caring attention to our vegetarian and vegan customers with an assortment of options. All burgers are served with an option of chips, potato wedges, sweet potato wedges or salad. If you’re feeling really hungry, we’ve got a stella selection of starters to choose from, perfect for sharing: chicken wings with our secret BBQ sauce, potato peels fried with rosemary and thyme or our popular Millie poppers.
Some of our most famous orders are: the “Dukes”- Beef Patty served with our famous Tomato Relish and topped with melted Cheddar Cheese, Grilled Pineapple, Mushrooms, Crispy Bacon, deep fried Crumbed Tomato, Sunnyside Egg, Gherkins,Cucumber Ribbon & Onion Rings (we’re full just writing that out!) or “The Big Kahuna “ - chicken fillet with Tomato Relish served with Grilled Pineapple & Onion, Crispy Bacon, crowned with Melted Cheddar Cheese, Mayonnaise, Gherkins and a Cucumber Ribbon.
The “Snow White “ is another firm favourite. It’s a lean Lamb Burger topped with Apple & Mint jJlly, freshly sliced Red Apple, Goats Cheese. For our vegetarian commrades the Kong Fu Tofu leads the way; Tofu Carrot Cashew Nut, Basil Patty topped with a Red Cabbage Sesame Seed & fresh Pineapple Salad drizzled with a Thai Peanut Soya Sauce.
Even though the burgers are huge, there is always room for dessert. Always. Especially when it’s homemade pie. Our Banana and hot Toffee Sauce Pie or Peanut Butter Chocolate Sauce Pie, served with freshly Whipped Cream or homemade Ice-Cream, leave our customers with a punch-drunk-love kind of look on their face. Yip, they are that good.
What happens when you take the coolest in local SA music and infuse them in a gourmet burger…. The Rock Menu. The Rock Menu (only offered on Wednesday night’s) brings creative flavour combos with eccentric flairs and interesting desserts. Over the years we have had bands like the Parlatones, Fokofpolisiekar, Short Straw, Zebra & Giraffe and many many more designing their wacky burgers. However, it is the Loerie nominated menu art work that often steals the show! It’s a fun menu with wacky ideas, the only rule is that it must taste good!
Dukes caters for anyone hungry for a good burger. We take bookings from 2 people up to 70. Just to let you know we get very busy from Wednesday night so be sure to book to avoid disappointment, or waiting too long for a table, when you’re already hungry!
