This is not your ordinary eaterie, as the unpretentious exterior belies the incredible Aladdin’s cave that await you within! The interior may be small, but every available space showcases an amazing and intriguing array of art, furniture and collectables. Owners Riaan Luiters and Luigi Marchini have managed to successfully create one of the most unique eateries in Pretoria.
Whilst Chef extrodinaire Luigi Marchini has long excelled at creating his mouth watering oxtail on fettucine, along with other traditional Italian favourites like the creamy veal piccatta, jor Luigi’s own brinjal mix (which you can buy to take home), the same passion and quality are evident in both the breakfast dishes and light meals. Here you will find gourmet open sandwiches, perfectly cooked pastas, and breakfast specialities like the smoked salmon omelette.
Morning coffee or afternoon tea is indeed a delight at Café Bree - the speciality Portuguese tarts, moist fig cake and the freshly baked orange polenta biscuits, are just three good reasons why you should pay a visit to this charming eaterie. What’s more you may just find that the long search for that unusual teaset, treasured ornament, or antique table is now over, as Luigi is a veritable source of knowledge on this subject for both the serious collector and the amateur.
Café Bree also offer outside catering ( the Lasagne is definitely worth trying) and there is outside seating on the sidewalk .
Driving from Pretoria CBD follow the M5 towards Groenkloof Nature Reserve. At the intersection with George Starrar (M7), turn left and continue The Little Company of Mary Hospital, we are across from them in the Groenkloof Forum.
