The Emergence of the Cattle Barons
During the American Civil War (while the farmers were away fighting), a new breed of entrepreneur was born, the Cattle Barons. These immensely rich and powerful men, along with their cowboys moved millions of unattended Texan cattle vast distances (under adverse conditions) across the Kansas plains to Railheads for transport to market centres. This helped generate income which stabliized the war-torn Texan economy. From the Tygerberg Hills, where this restaurant is situated, stunning views of Table bay and Table Mountain give the diner a foretaste of a unique dining experience in a congenial and upmarket steak house. The restaurant is air-conditioned, fully licensed and offers a seating capacity for 120 inside the restaurant plus 20 on the patio, a full a la carte menu, 24 hour secure parking, facilities for disabled persons and is open 7 days a week for dinner and 6 days a week for lunch (closed Sat lunch). Reservations are essential.

Take the N1 from Cape Town towards Parow. At the Parow/Plattekloof offramp, turn left onto Plattekloof Rd (M14).
