Intimate, romantic and sophisticated, specialising in contemporary French cuisine, Cargill’s restaurant is an ideal venue for a memorable meal. Fresh flowers adorn each candle-lit table in the elegant dining room/gallery where local artists also exhibit their work. Delicious smells waft from the tiny kitchen as Chef/Patron Joszka Nagy prepares every meal with care, using only the highest quality fresh ingredients. With a maximum of eight tables Joszka along with his wife Vicki ensure that their guests receive excellent service on every level and the utmost attention to detail.
Choose from a small but interesting menu that includes French classics such as duck liver pate, mussels in a champagne cream and chateaubriand in a bordelaise sauce. The quartet of South African game and pan-fried tiger prawns in chilli and garlic are firm favourites among regulars and visitors alike. For dessert, make a decadent choice between chocolate parfait, Cargill’s signature citrus infused crème brulee or deep-fried ice cream. The menu changes from time to time based on availability and quality of ingredients. Cargill’s ethos is to serve only the freshest produce.
A small wine list concentrating on the boutique vineyards of the Cape complements the quaint appeal of the restaurant. An exclusive selection of imported French wines is also available.
