Café Throbb is a hot and happening café/restaurant in the heart of Knysna. The third in the family of ‘Throbbs’ (there are 2 other stores in Johannesburg), Café Throbb is a throbbing venue to socialize, work (they have Wi-Fi) or to simply read a novel to the bustling café sounds while enjoying delicious food and gourmet coffee.
The menu at Café Throbb is modern café dining at its best with a slant towards local and health foods. Local cheeses, stone ground flour, Cape olive oils, and organic vegetables are used in many dishes to bring the true flavours of the cape alive.
Consisting of breakfasts, lunches and light meals, notable items include a breakfast ‘bunny chow’ (homemade mini loaf stuffed with chicken livers sautéed with garlic, onion, chilli, cherry tomatoes and scrambled egg), rump and halloumi kebabs, the ‘Sullivan Street’ gourmet sarmie (Balsamic honey chicken, bacon and camembert served on a warm baguette with wild rocket) and the duck and orange salad (duck with soya, honey, ginger and citrus jus served on Asian greens, fresh tomato, cucumber, Thai noodles & sesame seeds). Their pizzas are artisan wood fired, hand rolled, produced with only the best local, fresh and organic toppings.
The beautiful and industrial vintage styled interior makes customers feel right at home immediately. Rustic tables, minute herb pot plants on the table settings and the natural furnishings all set the tone for a warm and organic ambience. The outdoor seating is perfect for sitting with a cup of coffee or Satemwa tea brew, enjoying the sunshine with a French-street side aesthetic.
From George, travel on the N2 towards Knysna. As you enter town, turn right into Gray Street. You will find the restaurant on the left between Gordon Street and Gray Street.
