Ask anyone in Hermanus which restaurant serves the best steaks in the area, and invariably the answer will be B's Steakhouse. The accolade is entirely justified as B's won the regional title for Steakhouse of the Year in 1999, and were runners up in 2000. Hot off the press is the news that yet again B's have come out tops and clinched the Steakhouse of the Year 2001 award for the Western and Southern Cape Region. Owners, Bruce and Christine Henderson are justifiably proud of their restaurant's latest achievement, and they have worked continuously to maintain the highest standards of quality and service, as is borne out by Christine's motto "Life is too short to eat bad food".

B's go to great lengths to ensure that your steak is done to your liking, and even have their own chart with clear descriptions to indicate the different degrees of cooking from "Bleu" (sealed both sides, raw inside) to "Well Done" (no comment!). Best sellers on the steak side are the Chateaubriand and the Carpetbagger and all sauces are hand-made to complement your steak. On the Starter menu we recommend the Ultimate Onion - this recipe is unique to B's and is a deliciously different way to serve a rather lowly vegetable normally reserved for soups and stews! To complement a first class meal choose from an award winning wine list, which received a Platinum Diners Club award for the second year running.

The interior of the restaurant is warm and welcoming with lots of wood and a distinctly "Sante Fe look" with colours of blue, yellow, orange and brown. There is an attractive double-volume ceiling, and a small loft area which house a well stocked cigar bar, with a full range of genuine Cuban cigars. After coffee and dessert (the Banoffie Pie is an excellent choice) we recommend that you round off a memorable meal with a good port or brandy or choose from a fine selection of liqueurs. B's are able to cater for functions up to 70 people and you may choose your own set menu, finger food or a la carte. A recent addition to the restaurant is a small butchery counter which sells top quality fresh meat, biltong, boerewors, droewors, and a selection of sauces and dressings.

Take the N2 from Cape Town towards Hermanus. Take the R43 turnoff from the N2. Proceed along the R43 and you will find the Hemel-en-Aarde Craft Village on the corner of the R43 and R320.
