Orpa Meintjes and Stephan Kruger opened Black Fox Gin Bar in November 2016, and it has grown from strength to strength ever since. The restaurant is located in Hartbeespoort, on the premises of the popular Villa Paradiso, above the reception area and offers country style meals, bar snacks, harvest platters and so much more. Orpa and Stephan’s vision for Black Fox was to create something new and different in Hartbeespoort for everyone to enjoy and to showcase their passion and present something a bit more eclectic and modern to the area.

The space is intimate and quirky and the colour scheme is mainly white with accents of wood, yellow and black. The setting of Black Fox Gin Bar and Eatery is romantic yet relaxed with a balcony and a 180 degree view of the surrounding Magalies mountain range as well as the Hartbeespoort dam, making it the perfect place to enjoy a romantic date. The feel of the establishment is elegant with friendly service which adds to this eatery’s relaxed ambiance. It is very clear that Black Fox was created with a lot of passion for everyone who enjoys food and drinks.

The food at Black Fox Gin Bar and Eatery is prepared fresh and from scratch, including their delicious condiments and sauces. They put a lot of effort into every detail, so you won’t find the ordinary creamed spinach and sweet pumpkin here. The food does take some time to prepare, but this gives guests the opportunity to enjoy their drinks and the spectacular view. Popular dishes include the 260g Beef Fillet, served with creamy mushroom sauce crushed baby potatoes, or you can try the Slow Lamb and Cumin Flat Bread. Bar Snack favourites include the bacon loaded fries (and the chefs at Black fox smoke and cure the bacon in house), and to end things off with something sweet, try the crowd favourite Sour bread and butter pudding served with anglaise. The biggest talking point, however, is perhaps the extensive range of local and international gins on offer, they also boast a intricate menu where guests can put together their own gin cocktails.
