Known as one of the most unusual restaurants in the world. Bientang’s Cave is an exceptional choice for any special occasion, whether it be, a romantic dinner for two, a private party, theme party, team building exercise, or end of year function.

Bientang’s Cave is situated in the heart of the best land-based whale viewing area in the world. Our restaurant is not more than 10m from the water’s edge, and is a prime tourist attraction on one of the most beautiful Marine Reserves on the Western Cape coastlines.

Bientang’s Cave is also known as the best whale-watching restaurant in the world. The Southern Right whale visits our shores every year from May until December, and here you can sit on our deck, eating delicious seafood and drinking the best wines that the Cape has to offer while watching whales playing in the waves a mere 100m away.

We provide excellent facilities for both large and small functions, and have had much success with Tour Companies. We have set menus for tour groups which can be tailor made to suit your requirements. We have seating inside for up to 70 pax and 110 pax outside Booking for large groups is essential. We are fully licensed and have an extensive Wine List for which we have received two Merit and two Platinum Awards and two Gold Awards from Diners Club.

Walker Bay was declared a Whale Sanctuary three years ago, as this is where the Southern Right Whales return every year to mate and calve. Bientang’s Cave has completed building a whale research centre next to the restaurant. It will be the only whale research facility on the shores of a whale sanctuary on the African continent. The management and staff welcome you to join them for a most memorable and unforgettable experience.
