Norwood, Alfred Adams' original homestead and now the Adams' Outpost Restaurant, was built by Alfred Adams in 1887. Adams was Eshowe's first trader and "Military Purveyor", and Adams Camp Store served the Fort Curtis Garrison Camp of 2000 Imperial Troops for many years. Norwood hosted many dignitaries and travelers in its day, including Edward, Prince of Wales who, in 1925, is said to have danced on the dining room table! Norwood was re-located from its original site next to the Golf Course, to the museum grounds in 1997, to make way for a new housing estate, and now houses the Adams' Outpost Restaurant.

Owner, Angela Redinger, took over the restaurant in July 2013 with the vision to provide a friendly, efficient service to all patrons. Adam's Outpost Restaurant is situated on a historical site incorporating the The Fort Nongqayi Museum, Eshowe Butterfly Dome, Vukani Museum and the Hairy Canary Curio Shop.

Our restaurant offers a relaxed, comfortable, informal and friendly ambience with inside and outside seating. The interior is cosy and intimate with wooden floors and large Georgian style windows covered by soft flowy white drapes. The outside patio has beautiful views of the complex and a cover provides protection during hot summer days.

We offer freshly made meals using fresh produce when available. Menu items include Cheesecake, Black Forest Cake, Open Sandwiches, Salads, Homemade Beef Burgers, Freshly Baked Health Bread and exceptional Curry, to name a few. Our meals are large hearty portions at competitive prices and we also offer vegetarian options and kiddies meals.
