Chefs, Jerry and Ben established 101 Meade Street with one focus in mind: to prepare meals using only quality, fresh ingredients. Their passion for local produce stemmed from their childhoods spent on the farm, where meals were organic, healthy and full of flavour. Similar principles are followed at the restaurant, where farm-fresh staples are used to enhance the quality of their food. With their slogan being ‘simple, seasonal and social’, diners can enjoy freshly roasted coffee, all-day breakfasts and season-specific lunches and dinners.
101 Meade Street caters for those festive family or friend gatherings. While artfully elegant, diners can enjoy a comfortable dining experience over a glass of wine and a home-grown meal. Adorning the walls is a collection of paintings, a sight that diners can marvel at while awaiting their food or during a quiet moment at the table.
Start your day at 101 Meade Street, where enticing all-day breakfasts are up for the taking. For a real energy booster, the eateries have a wide selection of ‘pick-me-up’ smoothies – sip on a ‘Fresh Berry and Mint’ or an ‘Oatmeal, Banana and Honey’ drink.
Diners who aren’t looking to have a liquidised meal can opt for a full, hot breakfast. For some real South African flair, the ‘Our Classic’ dishes are highly sought after – combining a selection of unusual ingredients, such as the boerewors and pap, served with bacon, tomato smoor and fried eggs.
A business lunch or a midday meal with friends is a classy affair at 101 Meade Street. You can enjoy a wide range of gourmet sandwiches, mouth-watering burgers and crisp, refreshing salads. Coming highly recommended is the camembert, bacon, avo and tomato open sandwich, covered in a sweet, creamy mayo sauce.
An evening meal at the restaurant is of a sizeable nature, so it’s best to come hungry! Meat-lovers can’t go wrong with a honey glazed pressed pork belly, stuffed with roasted apple, onions and sage. Alternatively, get something straight off the grill – the ‘Laingsburg Karoo Lamb Chops will leave you suitably satisfied.
