The Grillhouse - Sandton

The Grillhouse Sandton overall is an amazing experience. The location of the restaurant gives you a perfect view as you enjoy your meal. The presentation of the food is lovely and the prices are inexpensive compared to their competitor steakhouses located around the area.The only problem that ruined the night for me was the situation with my server. Overall, our server was not friendly or interactive. He never even told us his name. He didn’t speak much. So it was quite hard.What made it worse happened layered. We went to The Grillhouse Sandton to celebrate my husband’s birthday as he was turning 38. I had spoke to our server about bringing out something to celebrate him. He said ok after my husband finished eating. 15 mins after my husband had finished still there was nothing. There was no communication of what was going to happen and to make it more confusing the waiter came and gave us desert menus. I was so confused. Where was the special surprise.... so I found a higher up sever to help me. When our waiter finally came with a lit sparkler on a square slice of cake he just sat it on the table and walked away. There was no happy birthday, no here you are sir, congratulations, nothing. Not a word. Just say it on the table and walked away. I started laughing because my husband thought it was a desert and was trying to tel him he had brought it the wrong table. I had to tell my husband it was for him for his birthday. The biggest let down experience.Because we went to the restaurant to solely celebrate my husbands birthday and surprise him- the experience from the waiter truly ruined our evening.When it comes to the food I would give 3.5 to 4 stars but when it comes to the experience I give 1 star. That’s how bad the experience was from our waiter.

The Manager was really rude,The lady i had been dealing with on emails (Marian) made mistakes and was not professional and when my guests got there they had to re arrange everything only coz my guests made an issue, Time consuming and embarassing.the food was dry, we pre ordered the drinks and when we got there, there was wrong drinks given, we ordered Moet Nector and we were given a cheaper bottle of Moet Impereal.They kept rushing the guests to eat quickly, we didnt even have a chance to breath in peace.after a full bill was pre paid the waitress came to argue with me infront of my guests for her tip whilst a 10 percent tip was charged in the quote and paid for in full.we spent R10 750 for an absolutely bad service,it was so sad coz that restaurant is absolutely beautiful and its got such a lovely view.

stumbled upon this place while walking around sandton in Johannesburg South Africa. Great view of the rest of the city with very good food,Especially the grilled calamari. Highly recommend

Having driven past Alice Lane many times - this was our first visit to The Grillhouse - and surely won't be our last. Incredible setting with spectacular views over Johannesburg - great food and attentive service - along with a knowledgeable team willing to cater for very specific requests.

Great food (the fries were really well prepared), very good customer service and nice ambience . The Grillhouse is classy and will do this again on my next visit to Johannesburg.

I have been to this restaurant 2 times. Once again, they proved themselves to provide excellent customer service! During a mix up we had to move tables and they gave us free champagne for the trouble. Upon sitting down they immediately brought bread and butter which is a welcoming touch. Food wise it was a little bit controversial. The tender steak was good, but a Caesar salad was lacking. The burger was good and upon request for mustard an entire tray of six types of mustard were brought. Good overall experience! I would return.

WOW, what a let down. The High Prices for a somewhat average steaks with average service... A true let down after having frequented this specific branch several times... Waitrons arguing at the table as to who should be serving what to whom, and yet they were very friendly. Not something i'd rush back to...

This is the best restaurant ever. The most incredible food, sweetest people ever and the best service. I’ve never been anywhere so incredible 110% recommend. I would go there everyday if I could. Thank you so much

I had heard of the restuarant before. I was rather disappointed in the food. The prices are nearer the top end and the quality of the food was average and the plating was lower end restuarant. The portions were also small, so I was a little hungry when I walked out the restaurant. I had a starter and a main, no desert. Wine selection is very good, but above average pricing. The restuarant isn’t very good value. I normally give all restaurants a second chance to prove me wrong, but I’m not convinced I will with this one. There are far better restaurants in JHB to eat at.

i had a rib eye.it was juicy and raw as i akse and nicely seasoned.i accompanied with monkey glad sauce which was super nicely made.the house rose wine was also super tasty
