This place was right in front of our homestay (Drawing Room on 2nd) and we had our complimentary breakfasts arranged in this cafe. The cafe has good variety of sandwiches, fruits , muffins and juices to pick from. You can also use it to buy your own provisions for the day. Overall a nice cozy place to start you day.

While other places in Harfield Village close early, Augst closes 6.30pm so perfect to pop in after work. Always something yummy: cakes, pies, fruit and veg juices etc to eat there or take away, and tonnes of specialty treats and healthfoods. Pure GOLD is the serving lady Giselle. Lovely, helpfull, friendly, full of enticing but unpushy suggestions and i would go back there just to see her smile again. She made my day! Cheap breakfast coffee specials etc. Just treat yourself to a little gem.

Our B&B hosts had told us that in Claremont, there is a cool little street called 2nd Avenue where there some interesting little shops. So we ventured down there and there is a collection of lovely little eating establishments that cater for everything from grills to sushi. Thai food and organic. It is all there. The name August caught our attention and me being in need of cappuccino saw a sign that advertised coffee for R15 before 9:00. What a fantastic little shop. Focussed on the supply of organically grown vegies, health breads and soon to include speciality cheeses, this little shop is a must for those who are looking for something different. The cappuccino was tasty and well priced. The selection of pastries is small but good and again very well priced.The owner, Graham is a very welcoming and caring host who’s focus is not on how to sell his products to the customer, but more of what is it that this community wants and needs and how best can I provide that for them.Needless to say, we visited August three times during our short stay in Claremont.Oh and heads up for the locals, Graham sells boxes of organic vegies that comprise the vegies you want for your needs.
