Ludwig’s Roses, a 60 hectare rose farm, lies in a valley just 18kms north of Pretoria. The rose nursery started in 1971 and as demand grew for a restaurant establishment, Heike, daughter of rose guru Ludwig Taschner, opened the doors to Spiced Coffee Restaurant in 2005. From humble beginnings the restaurant now seats up to 90 guests and serves the loveliest rosy treats.
The nursery boasts the most spectacular fields of roses and free tractor rides on weekends to see the 1000's of roses! They offer free advice on all rose queries, 7 days a week! Additional to the roses and restaurant, there is Thorns ‘n Things, the rose boutique that sells all things rosy from rose creams, linen mist, rose oils to handbags and rose jewellery.
For the kids there is a huge playground in good view from the restaurant and a doll’s house amongst the fairytale rose garden. On weekends Attie, the pony also takes kids for a pony ride around the farm.

Spiced Coffee Restaurant is nestled amidst rose splendour. The big veranda-like restaurant has a richly draped ceiling and crystal chandeliers that add old beauty and an atmosphere of elegance to the restaurant.
The farm and restaurant is the ideal site for beautiful family outings, birthday parties for kids and adults, anniversaries, kitchen teas, bridal showers, corporate functions and private engagements. The restaurant will organise the event to your taste and requirements.
Secluded picnics and high teas can also be arranged and for the kids, the restaurant offers a great kiddie’s menu. All their cakes are baked on the farm and you can look forward to tasting their German apple pie and lemon meringue.
The restaurant also sells edible rose products such as our rose jam, rose fudge, rosehip chutney & marmelade, rose vinegar and more!

An edible rose paradise - born & raised on the rose farm, restaurateur Heike Taschner, creates each dish and drink with the ROSE in mind.
You can enjoy a leisurely farm breakfast or the Rosehip Rolled Omelette and for a light lunch the Thyme and Again Quiche, a leek & rosehip vegetarian quiche that is always delightful. Treat yourself to their rose specialities such as rose milkshakes, rose smoothies, organic rosehip tea or rose flavoured coffee, rose liqueur & rose sodas... rose cocktails…..rosy waffles, and homemade smooth and creamy frozen yoghurt ice cream with a tinge of rose aroma. Spiced Coffee proudly serves huge, rose shaped farm baked scones with rose petal jam & rosehip marmalade, cream, cheese and butter. To add that special touch each dish is garnished with fresh rose petals. Spiced Coffee is fully licensed with a wide variety of Joostenberg wines, beers, spirit coolers and speciality coffees.
