Watami was opened in 2007 in Greenstone Shopping Centre, after 5 years being hidden at a forgotten corner, the restaurant has eventually been relocated to a more accessible and exciting spot at Stoneridge Shopping Centre, this "used-to-be undercovered" emerald eventually shined in this sunny centre. They were also the first Asian restaurant in South Africa to offer Japanese cheese paper hot pots and healthy paper grilled Chinese dishes.
The restaurant is decorated in an Oriental fusion style with the soft lightning of the Chinese lantern light-fittings enhancing the relaxed ambience of the restaurant. During the day light pores in from the stackable glass doors leading out onto the balcony.

Watami prepares every dish on order to ensure diners can enjoy fresh, quality dishes every time. The Sushi Chefs are artists in their own right with every sushi dish looking like a piece of art. Guests can enjoy sushi directly off the conveyor belt or order from the a la carte menu.
The restaurant's artisan sushi is definitely a favourite with guests followed by the Japanese Tempura Prawns or Teriyaki Chicken. The Chinese Sizzling Beef are always recognised by Watami’s clients. Try some of the various Japanese Fusion Bento Boxes available if you cannot decide on only one dish. Another interesting dish to try is the Korean Hot Rock Meals. Food is served in a bowl made from rock that is heated to such a temperature to cook the meal inside.

The restaurant, encouraged by Oriental tradition, has started a "Spoil our elders and care for our kids" Promotion. Pensioners can order a two course meal for a discounted price on Thursdays and on Saturdays children can enjoy a two course kiddies’ meal also at a discounted price.
