The Toad in the Village, affectionately known as The Toad, is a friends-owned country pub and restaurant serving fine bistro fare with a South African twist - echoing the owners' love of good food, local wines, family and friends and the abundance that life in this seaside valley has to offer. The Toad is at the foot of Chapman’s Peak, with the stunning Noordhoek beach on the doorstep. The restaurant is in a thatched 1850's style farmhouse, set amongst surrounding paddocks and behind the safe white-washed stone walls of the extremely quaint and desirable Noordhoek Farm Village.
People drive from miles around the Peninsula for the Sunday Roast at The Toad - and for undoubtedly the best Eisbein this side of Germany!! Other menu specialties include Springbok and Guinness Pie, French Onion Soup and the best Beer Battered Fish around! Grills, sticky Ribs, homemade Hamburgers, thin based Pizzas and Calamari are all excellent. Thursdays are Curry nights at The Toad, with a selection of fine Curries especially prepared for you. Pasta dishes and Speciality Salads change regularly - and as is the way with all meals from this country eatery - the helpings are not for the faint-hearted and the chips are cut fresh every day!

Whether you sit on the crowded deck, in the warm downstairs dining room or upstairs in the traditional open thatched roof pub, with fireplaces roaring and The Toad’s travels well documented on the walls around you - the ambience is cosy and family orientated. The patio entrance also offers out door seating and the unique all weather lawn creates the ideal beer garden for balmy summer evenings. Away from the restaurant there is lawned and play area to keep the kids busy - while you relax and enjoy the fresh country air and chilled atmosphere.
Live music is a focus and on most nights you will find something on the go. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are live music nights - with local artists who have become an institution in the valley. Sing along or dance between the tables - its relaxed and casual - a bit like being at a family gathering... Tuesday is Quiz night and the prizes are always well anticipated. Booking is strongly advised. Weekends are all action with sport being the focus. Well placed flat screen TV’s make big sporting events a must. The locals love their sport so expect to be taken in by the atmosphere.

The friendly team, offer considerate and brisk service, affordable fare - spiced with loads of local insight and stories to entertain the well entrenched locals and welcome visitors alike, with a good selection of draughts, beers and a well-chosen wine list. Expect to be impressed.
The Toad is a must see destination point. When there is not much on the go, get in your car and head on down. The Village is a great place to be and you will feel a million miles from the big city and shopping malls before you know it. We look forward to meeting you.
