In March 2001 we, Roxanne and Cheri, opened a restaurant in Wilderness, which quickly became a favourite with locals and visitors alike.
At the time a chef was part of the team but on a day, more specifically 11 September!!, he decided to follow a different path. Facing our first season in our new venture, we were forced to take over the reins in the kitchen with less than no knowledge of how to operate the equipment, let alone cook!!!!!! But... a girl has to do what a girl has to do and the rest is history...
Not long and it became more popular to say let`s go and eat at The Girls and so “THE GIRLS” was the obvious choice in this, our newest venture.

Having sold that business in 2005, we have opened in our current venue with the vision of creating a unique eating and shopping experience. As you enter the seaside village of Wilderness on the Garden Route, you will find a distinctly different restaurant with attention to detail that will captivate you and indulge all your senses.
The Girls - Roxanne & Cheri have been running successful restaurants since 2001 and this, their latest venture, is sure to become a memorable part of your visit to The Garden Route.
The trendy, thatched interior welcomes you with an African warmth where everything from Peter Pharaoh prints to African arts, crafts & curios can be bought while you enjoy the distinctive sound of African music and the distinctly different food prepared personally by The Girls.

The upstairs floor is where you will find specially selected treasures from all over Africa. Passport masks from Cameroon, wooden figures from Kenya & Malawi, Zulu bead work, jewellery, genuine Masai blankets - plus, plus... While enjoying the “Magic of Africa” there is internet available for those last minute arrangements or perhaps an email or two.
We offer distinctly different take aways and picnic backpacks for your beach walks, canoe trips, horse riding trails and hikes. So, place your picnic order and enjoy that fresh salad and cold beer at lunch time next to a beautiful waterfall OR our sundowner pack with a cheese platter and a chilled bottle of wine!!!!!!
