Unlike the northern suburbs of Sandton, residents of the North West have never had a profusion of up-market restaurants on their doorstep. However, things are looking up and EAT Bistro is fast gaining popularity as a restaurant of note, much to the delight of Northcliff residents. Tucked away in the revamped L’ Corro Centre, Eat has a delightful sheltered courtyard complete with soothing water feature. It is fortunate that the courtyard is set back from the parking area, giving it both privacy and tranquillity for enjoying a quiet stress free lunch. At night the courtyard trees are attractively lit up with fairy lights creating just the right ambience for an intimate al fresco dinner.

The interior of the restaurant is smart and stylish with inviting leather couches and an impressive arrangement of fresh flowers. Giant food prints displayed on the walls are visually enticing and certainly achieve their objective in stimulating the appetite! EAT is a complete dining experience where good quality food and service go hand in hand. The menu changes on a regular basis depending what’s in season, and there are excellent weekly specials on the chalkboard such as the pan fried Line Fish with Bacardi, lime and coconut sauce. There is also a separate lunch time menu and a well balanced, reasonably priced wine list, which will certainly please all palates.

Fusion-style dishes result in unusual combinations that truly tantalize the taste buds. For starters try the slow-roasted Tomato Tartlets or the spicy lamb, spinach and ricotta Spring Rolls. On the main menu the half roasted Duck with Thai noodle and peanut salad drizzled with caramel chilli dressing is highly recommended. For a more traditional South African inspired main course, try the grilled Karoo Lamb Cutlets with lemon scented cous-cous, or the slow braised Lamb Shank with creamed parsnips. Dessert lovers should save room for the home-made Fig and Port Ice Cream, or the Chocolate tartlet served with cream and Chocolate Fudge sauce.

If you're coming from Beyer Naude Drive, turn right into Pendouring Road. Continue on this road - it eventually changes into Weltevreden Road and then becomes 14th Avenue. At the intersection where Weltevreden Road forks with 14th Avenue continuing on the left, we'll be on the left.
