A secret to some and fiercely guarded by the locals, Bread & Wine Restaurant is set amongst the lemon orchards and vineyards on M“reson Wine Farm.
For those wonderful Franschhoek summer days, al fresco seating in the courtyard, shaded by trellised vines and umbrellas or the indoor cellar restaurant with its’ draped ceilings and giant picture windows.

The attraction is simple, real rustic food prepared with honesty and masses of flavour. The menu offers 'have to haves’ including the daily dip selection and this seasons pizza bread - topped with potato, crème frâiche, smoked salt & rosemary. 'Smaller tastes include sublime soups, imaginative salads - Butter leaf and basil salad with creamed feta, confit tomato and spiced aubergine - and Neils’ signature dish of Braised Italian plum tomato with aubergine ravioli and tapenade.
Main courses tempt with innovative combinations yielding fabulous taste surprises, skilfully presented - think 'Porcini dusted wildebeest, smoked beetroot custard and celery and garlic’ or 'Lightly oak smoked trout, broccoli puree and pickled mussel vinaigrette’. Special mention must be made of the antipasto plate - an ever-changing selection of own smoked cured meats that reflect Neils’ obsession with charcuterie.

While reflecting over the menu or taking a break between courses stroll over to the tasting room and sample some of the farms award winning wines. The restaurant offers this wide selection by the glass or the bottle or try a flight - a tasting of three wines.
On departing pick up your basket and fill it with delectable goodies from our Farm Grocer, items such as smoked red wine vinegar, chicken liver parfait, squashed salami, marinated olives, vanilla pods, fig pate, old Cape brandy marmalade, filled foccaccia or dukkah bread filled with haloumi cheese. The restaurant and grocer are now open 7 days a week!

From the N1:
Take the N1 heading towards Paarl. Take off ramp no. 59 ( Wellington - R301 ). Turn right at the stop sign, onto the R301. Follow this road to the T-junction ( past Boschenmeer, Pearl Valley, Groot Drakenstein Prison) and turn left at stop sign to Franschhoek - R45. Continue along this road, as you pass La Motte vineyards, look for the signs for Moreson, Happy Valley Road. Take the tarred road turning to the right opposite the La Motte Offices. Continue along this road for about 3 - 4 minutes to get to Bread & Wine
From Helshoogte:
Approach Helshoogte mountain pass from the R310. Travel through Pniel and pass Boschendal Wine Farm on the right. At the T- junction turn right towards Franschhoek . R45. And continue as above
