Enjoy a brand new eating experience at Sun International’s Table Bay Hotel’s Conservatory Restaurant. This superb venue overlooking the boating bustle of the working harbour and the soaring face of Table Mountain is open from 11h00 to 21h00 every day and its clean lines of light and airy décor suitably match the crisp light air of a Cape Town summer’s day. The Conservatory is stylish, yet informal set on the south-western side of the grand foyer of the Table Bay Hotel with its adjacent Union Bar.
The Conservatory is serving both a Tapas and Sushi menu all day. To match the style of Tapas, the menu is simple, contemporary and, like in Spanish cuisine, altogether appetising!
Tapas has certainly evolved from the Spanish. Ingredients and influences from many different cultures and countries are now incorporated into the wonderful dishes where portions are usually shared by diners. Hence their tempting menu offering Tapas like Blue Cheese and Pear Salad with Endive, Hazelnut and Balsamic Dressing; Grilled Portuguese Sardine with Olive, Basil and Tomato; Katafi wrapped Jumbo Prawns with Pimento Coulis and Duck Rillette with Prunes, Armagnac, Pickles and Crusty Bread.
For dessert there is a Bitter Chocolate Beignet with Apple and Cinnamon Ice-cream; a Vietnamese Crème Brule or a Stuffed Poached Pear with Mascarpone Nougat on Sambuca Jelly.

The Conservatory Restaurant offers a fabulous selection of the freshest and most delicious Sushi in town. Enjoy their selection of Prawn, Salmon, Tuna and Whitefish Nigiri, a variety of Maki Rolls including the Daikoi & Cucumber Maki and the Prawn & Avocado Maki, a variety of Fashion Sandwiches including the famous Yellowtail and Prawn versions. The Handrolls are superb with fillings like Salmon & Avocado, Tuna, Prawn and Avocado & Cucumber. They also serve a wide variety of Sashimi for only R42 per 3-piece selection.
All the sushi and sashimi is served with a selection of traditional condiments as well as some of their own that have been specially put together to create a memorable eating experience. But, you certainly can expect to see Soy Sauce; Wasabi - a piquant paste made from the grated root of the wasabi plant, also referred to as namida ("tears") and Gari - a sweet, pickled ginger, eaten to cleanse the palate as well as aid digestion.

The better you know your sushi chef, the more exotic your ingredients are likely to be - so go down to the Conservatory Restaurant one fine summer’s day and experience the delight of crisp, fresh tastes. The atmosphere is relaxed, almost lazy and it’s a wonderful way to spend a conversational summer lunch.
Tapas are available from R45 and the food menu is accompanied by a extensive wine by the glass selection that adds to the adventure.
The Table Bay Hotel makes dining an experience, so to start off your experience they will valet park your car and no parking charge provided you have made a reservation.
The Conservatory also offers a Jazz Lunch from 12:30 - 14:30 every Sunday. Please contact the hotel for more information.
