The red bricked, stone faced Station building with the teak clock tower was designed in 1913, now a National Heritage Site, forming the Gateway to the Historic mile with De Posthuys, the oldest Colonial building in South Africa; Rhodes Cottage and the Natale Labia Gallery. Housed in the station building ~ and originally a tearoom, then the Station Master's apartment ~ Fogeys Railway House has the most astonishing view of the sea. On calm days the sash windows are opened and one can smell the sea air and look out across the bay. Recently the interior has been revamped resulting in a warm, generous space with earthy tones, dark comfortable cane chairs and solid wooden tables - elegant, yet comfortably relaxed.

In the three years that Fogeys Railway House has been open, there have been numerous special events taking place at the restaurant, like book launches, gourmet evenings and wine tastings.
It has also become popular as a function and wedding venue where the balcony can be changed into a very private ‘chapel'. Keeping with its musical tradition, the restaurant has weekly performances by a pianist, classical guitarist or a jazz trio on Sunday evenings and Tango dancing every Thursday night.
